Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:22 / 26.08.07
You know, this latest New Pornographers album is fairly awesome.

Princess
21:27 / 26.08.07
That dahl sounds good.
On the subject of music, has anyone here heard of Lupen Crook? Ze worth the effort of googling?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
21:28 / 26.08.07
No idea, but Googling's not really that much effort, surely?

Evening all.

Princess
21:31 / 26.08.07
Ugh.
It pains me to face those gayly coloured letters. The typing, the anxious wait as it searches, and the awful abundance of results.

I am not sure if I could brave it without some assurance of the artists worth.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:34 / 26.08.07
Never heard of Lupen Crook.

Hiya, Stoats. How's things?

Lentils are a'boiling, and I am a'chopping. A'chopping garlic.

Princess
21:36 / 26.08.07
My speakers do not work anyway.
I braved the google-tundra for NOTHING!
Excuse me whilst I weep into my half eaten, frost bitten blanky.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:46 / 26.08.07
Okay, now it's time to test this...

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:50 / 26.08.07
Tastes mostly good, though I think something was a little singed, so I'll watch it more carefully next time.

Princess
21:50 / 26.08.07
Whilst we wait for the results, I have news.
The PVT thing from yesterday stood for "Private".

But I tend to assume that about most threesomes, so why bother specifying it? Is everyone else televising their sex life now?

Damn Endemol.

Princess
21:51 / 26.08.07
Congratulations!

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:53 / 26.08.07
Is everyone else televising their sex life now?

Well, we didn't want to say anything....

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
21:54 / 26.08.07
Hrm. Homer Simpson consuming a large phallus of expired gummy worms.

Princess
22:03 / 26.08.07

Vagina dentata = urgh.

I'm not even sure how to respond to the scenario you described, it is worse.

Princess
22:28 / 26.08.07
I am Diana.
Please talk to me.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
22:42 / 26.08.07
Dal's done, eaten, and the leftovers are put away in the fridge. Bring them to work tomorrow. Reasonably successful operation, though I need to watch the lentils more closely as they boil. And maybe fidget with the spice ratios a little.

I should probably work on story revisions for a while and then do the dishes. I've been frustrated with the revisions so far, but I need to find my footing with them.

I also appear to be late-shifting. Hello.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
23:55 / 26.08.07
Hello, Headly.

Triplets
00:01 / 27.08.07
Hello, everyone! Tell me an interesting thing that happened today. Big or small.

Today my 17 year old friend L called me in tears because her internet boyfriend, who we were informed was 26, is actually 31.

After offering my sympathies I pointed out that a relationship with this guy might be tricky if only for the fact that she will have to get TWO Father's Day gifts.

Tomorrow I make lasagne for the first time ever. This is making me unreasonably excited.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:07 / 27.08.07
Sounds like how I felt about the dal, Satanic.

...

You know, I may never get used to that screen name. You and the Princess should do a variety hour.

As for interesting, my day started off with reading some kind of lame prose for a bit and then having morning sex, followed by a delicious eggs benedict with lox. Otherwise, it's been pleasantly uninteresting, beyond cooking fiascos and my inability to get myself writing.

Back in a few hours..but until then,

HI!

Blake Head

Quick question Pascal: You ever read anything by your countryman Craig Davidson? My interesting thing today, I suppose, is that I went to a book festival event he was at. Racy stuff I know.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:34 / 27.08.07
No, but I'm looking him up right now. Googling, as the children say.

Triplets
00:35 / 27.08.07
Princess & Panic's Hour of Power? I suppose I'd be the straight man of that particular duo.

What is a dal/dahl? First person to say "a writer" gets a twisted nipple.

Good sex and good food is certainly an interesting way to start the day.

A small happy for me, today, is that a pack of jumbo-sized playing cards I got for my birthday are selling quite well on eBay purely, apparently, because I've described them as limited edition. I have no idea if that's actually the case, but it's worked.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:35 / 27.08.07
"The Fighter" sounds about right to end up made into a film. Not sure it's quite my thing, but...

Blake Head
00:38 / 27.08.07
Well, I think I'll start a thread, see if I can convince you. Probably not tonight though - it's getting on a bit and I have to be up and doing moving stuff tomorrow.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:40 / 27.08.07
You're selling birthday playing cards?

A dal is an Indian lentil dish, a spicy lentil stew (?) type of deal that goes well with pita bread, naan, or rice.

Okay, dishes are done except for one pot, that needs a bit of a soak. What else should I clean? Ah, procrastination!

Triplets
00:47 / 27.08.07
You make selling on gifts sound so... so seedy!

In my defence they were part of a larger gift pack, I haven't used them and, well, they're fucking massive. I need the space.

Don't judge me!

Spicy lentil goodness sounds really good. It's bank holiday Monday tomorrow in the Yuke so quite glad I got all my DIY lasagne ingredients early. Just add competent chef.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
00:53 / 27.08.07
You can get some gourmet ravioli around here with spinach and feta inside -- I like making lasagne with that stuff instead of regular lasagne noodles. Adds something.

This Sunday
01:06 / 27.08.07
Hey everybody! It's me!

And I have a desperate craving for something to have a Princess & Panic's foil label on it. Just so I can ask for one at the grocery. Sounds degenerately high-end.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:11 / 27.08.07
Princess & Panic's Olde Time Rum?

How's things, Decadent?

I can't tell if this novel is actually bad or merely average.

Blake Head
01:17 / 27.08.07
Care to share its identity with the rest of us?

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:18 / 27.08.07
Soon I will be Invincible, by Austin Grossman. There's a thread in the Books about it. The first half was uneven but promising, but it seems to be spinning out.

Blake Head
01:29 / 27.08.07
Yeah, I'd seen that. Just saw your comment now. I hate it when I can't get a get a handle on a book. The last one I read like that was a collection of short stories by Nathan Englander. There was nothing obviously wrong with any of the stories, they had interesting material in places, but the prose seemed dispassionate to the point where I just didn't care about anything going on, couldn't work out the point the author was trying to make. It seemed promising in places and in others just seemed to resist any attempts to get a grip of it.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
01:33 / 27.08.07
There are places where the prose is genuinely inspired and lyrical - filtering weird Silver Age super-hero madness through poetic lenses - but in other places it just falls awkwardly to the ground, no lyricism, predictable characterization. The hero team's called the Champions and it reads like a Champions role playing game log. And it really hits home how visual super-heroes, as a genre, are.

I'm doing alright. Fielding weird questions from weird folks. Putting in the time.

I've been interested in checking out that book, actually, but am building myself up to read the semi-new Umberto Eco novel, The Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana. Because it has Mandrake the Magician in it. And Buffalo Bill, Fantomas, and Mussolini. And cost a dollar, hardback.
