The italics make it betterer (which is like double-good) and excitingly punctuated!

I have a desperate urge to watch Adolescence Apocalypse and other severely happy and metaphoric and giddy films tonight. Am so down on (false) realism I've almost become a walking parody of the thing I loathe.

So go here and tell me what I should eat next time. I'll tell what I've eaten so as not to sully this joy.

Tonight with my mate Matt C., I had a couple of Sapporo beers, a spicy tuna roll that I have been honestly been dreaming about since the Matts took my Matt and I there, and the Supercrunch roll. I gorged myself on awesome dining. If you were to cut my tummy open now, hopefully beautifully executed food would tumble out.

I could live the rest of my life like that.

I so wish I could eat pictures right now. Seriously. They laugh at me whenever I mention 'sushi' in this county.

Am having someone play mole on a project for me, and forward me all sorts of behind-my-back commentary on me and my work. Wow, some people totally hate me (this may surprise only me, but it does), others say very sweet things when they don't think I'm seeing them, and I have no idea what being a 'street writer' actually means. Either I write about streets, or I should be doing Boyz N the Hood 2: Full-Auto Boogaloo. Or, like a house painter, I write streets, on them and in them.

But surely R.E.Kali your stomach half open, you could only live a very short rest of your life, unless of course you were in a bath of ice. where all the best organ stealing rumours place you in the event of an untimely body opening...

This Sunday
04:12 / 05.08.07
I'm thinking there will be Sapporo, excellent food, and body modification, followed by a bath of ice is clearly a pretty fancy way to spend one's life. Just typing it out feels like totally eighties TV Exec excess, with a thin necktie and several high quality lines. There should also be a thermal mud mask of essential vitamins and wet dirt.

Hey fellow lateshifters!

No joke, the Supercrunch roll, the Bullseye, the Orange Kiss, are the stuff of legend.

I sit here hours later and have my mouth watering, though knowing that my belly can contain no more.

Hi, Venger!

Kali, Queen of Kitteh

And hey, give me roll suggestions from the menu I provided y'all!

This Sunday
04:58 / 05.08.07
My suggestion is a classic lazy DN-styled suggestion: order something purely at random. So long as you're not allergic to it. Either by blindly flinging a finger to the menu or by hitting on whatever you're right at that moment of decision solidly in the mood for. (So helpful, yeah?)

It's food. It's quality food. What's the worst that could happen?

Any thoughts on 'street writer', then? I'm half-tempted to change my handle here over to it, except that I'd have to punch myself afterwards. Is this an actual term I've never heard of before, perhaps?

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
05:05 / 05.08.07
"Street writer" is a term I've heard most graffiti artists/conceptual urban landscape "revisionists" use around here, by the way.

Shit. I don't think that helps. I apologise.

Last call for me!

Hoping for a brief shining moment that I am not that lame.

I AM that lame, aren't I?

Saint Keggers
05:26 / 05.08.07
How lame? What would make you lame?

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
05:35 / 05.08.07
Ohhhh. Lame as in the honest actual fact due to my best friend I LOVE Gilmore Girls. Am watching a bit of the pilot now.

So...hating to play matchmaker, but if I've met my future husband on this wonderful-a-goric "thang" and she's liked it here from what I've shown her, who might be interested?

(I should go to bed soon, yeah. You're all nodding your heads.)

This Sunday
06:04 / 05.08.07
Kali, this is my duty on lateshifts: making y'all look better by comparison. Every step of the way. Except every seventh step. I'm quite cool on the seventh step.

Anyhow, I'm dead for the night. Conceptually urban, making headspace graffiti and dead. Back tomorrow.

Kali, Queen of Kitteh
06:17 / 05.08.07
Me too. Off to bed.

This Sunday
02:53 / 07.08.07
Hello!

After a long day of embarrassing myself with subpar writing, having people stop in the middle of moral conundrums and tell me I'm the wrong person to ask (twice!), and watching lots of Robotech, I have the urge to lateshift.

Who's shifting with me?

(Shifting, by the way, is halfway between the twist and the frug. It has it's own novelty song. It can be done while sitting.)

Saint Keggers
02:59 / 07.08.07
I thought it was somewhere between the Twist and The Hippy Hippy Shake.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Yeah, I'm kind of here, but grumpy.

03:06 / 07.08.07
It's a very interpretive dance, Venger.

And, Stoatie, what's got you down?

Saint Keggers
03:18 / 07.08.07
Yeah, Stoats, dish.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
03:25 / 07.08.07
Well, my internet at home's fucked, I'm at work right now which sucks, and I got dumped on Thursday. Bad week, really.

Although they've just said we can go home, which has cheered me up.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:06 / 07.08.07
OK.

I have thirteen moleskine pages to transcribe into the dirty machine and then I'll be finished the first draft. I want to do this tonight, so I have about two hours to do it in. Fingers to fire! Turbines to speed!

This Sunday
04:07 / 07.08.07
Damn, dude.

Hopefully something good'll come your way soon.

I'm trying to distance a treatment for a Cage 9 video from the film it's meant to be an homage to. It's a unique experience, because it's only the backbone of the original they want copied, but at the same time, well, there's only so much that can be done in three minutes. And the writer/director clearly likes the film she's basing the video in more than I, do mine's a bit parodic/cartooned. Red Riding Hood with guns in the sewers becomes a bit Image-esque, with chain-claws and metal swimsuits, which I'll have to restrain.

This Sunday
04:12 / 07.08.07
Crosspost with Papers, clearly. Who's unintentionally reminded me how cool everybody's rides on a certain show were. Fulfilled life means having a purple cowl and a motorcycle, I think, but a badass angular supercar with the top down and everything from anti-clown missiles to a knockout aerosol can in the glove compartment works out nicely, too.

Fire those fingers, Papers! Fire them like atomic batteries of justice! And typing.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:28 / 07.08.07
Sigh. That show always made me want to be Julie Newmar. I didn't really appreciate Eartha Kitt til I was older.

Fingers are firing! I'm on page 30 of the draft.

This Sunday
04:43 / 07.08.07
All good people wanted to be Julie Newmar from that show, even if only as a passing five-minute fancy. It's kind of a law of nature nobody talks about much.

Really, Tallulah Bankhead, Anne Baxter, Yvonne Craig, the aforementioned Newmar and Kitt... the women ruled that series. Although, I do still find Cesar Romero's Joker far more frightening than any live-action portrayal since.

Best show to play 'six degrees from...' with, too, well, you get like three hits off Orson Welles immediately

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
04:55 / 07.08.07
Who did Tallulah Bankhead play?

I remember being little and my dad talking a lot about watching it when he was a kid, and having a crush on Yvonne Craig. And Burt Ward was pretty cute back in the day.

They never had a Two-Face, did they? Disfigurement was a bit much, even the Joker's was oddly downplayed for all his horror. They had that False-Face guy instead.

9679 words so far.

This Sunday
05:03 / 07.08.07
Bankhead was the Black Widow.

No, seriously, that's not a punchline or anything.

And they apparently did do makeup tests for a Two-Face appearance, but couldn't keep it from being too much without losing the whole thing.

That was a good lookin' show, that was. We're here to look good and steal things! Yeah, well, we're here to look good and POW! you! And everyone had lovely speaking voices, too. I mean, really. If every voice on that program don't give you shivers there's something fundamentally wrong with you. (Or, you're deaf.)

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
05:07 / 07.08.07
Shit, now I want to buy the DVDs. But I shouldn't.

I just had one of those weird moments--just found out that two very good friends of mine, ex-roommates, in fact, who had been in a very long-term relationship (six or so years, I think, at this point), just called in quits. They're over in Japan, though, teaching English, so I'm not within arm's reach of them. She, in particular, is my best friend, and it's hard to be so far away from her right now.

Meanwhile, I'm about to break 10,000 words.

I understand and entirely sympathize with you (and feel bad for your friend), but have to point out how much like displacement those sentences read. It sucks, though, I know.

You're at least in contact via e-mail, yeah? Hope it all works out, but I'm sure she could use a friendly voice at the moment.

Hallo, Paper Spaceboy
05:27 / 07.08.07
Yeah, we're in touch. It's more that weird shock that creeps in when other people you're close to break up.

This Sunday
05:39 / 07.08.07
Sure. Wouldn't be surprised if, given the number of years, you were unconsciously appending one party's name to the other, even. That weird thing where someone becomes AndGeorge or AndCindy, which post-breakup comes up as uncertainty all 'round. For them, most, I'd imagine, but I can't believe it's sitting comfortably with you.

Well, hopefully it was an equitable break-up. For the better and closer-to-happiness of all parties involved.

And good luck closing off the draft, by the by.

This Sunday
05:58 / 07.08.07
There's a gorgeous thunderstorm just started up. Makes your spine jump out through your chest when it lights up every window and echoes down from skull to toes, but it means I have to work on battery power, which is suspect these days.

If the battery dies, I'll pretend it's my conscience trying to save my life and the tatters of a once good name. That'll ease the blow of losing whatever's open and unsaved at the moment.
