WAAAAY back and probably off topic now, but no, I an not a Fabian whoever fan (X men books make me break out) and I DO actually have the sense of a man about town. When I say "Marvel Joycoreness" (is joycoreness a word? No, no it isn't') I mean freak Stan and Jack "THIS WEEK THE FANTASTIC FOUR GO INTO ANOTHER DIMENSION, THOR IS SENT TO ASGARDIAN HELL TO FIGHT THE FIFTEEN FURIES OF RAGNOROK" ect. And, I suppose Bendis might be viewed by some as a step in the right direction, I look at the writing that is involved in Annihilation, and I KNOW that there are writers at marvel who know how to write stories that are amazing and fantastical, and still interesting to me, as an adult. Bendis can write a good soap opera, and he can write a good Spiderman, but it seems more and more that Marvel is putting all their eggs in the Bendis basket (and Miller, sometimes) and that saddens me. I don't wish for the days or the spider clone, the age of apocalypse, or the Marvel turned to Image Heroes Reborn. I just don't think that Bendis is all that great, is all... |
