Just think of all those poor Barbe-souls at this year's North American meet who will have to witness the treacle.

Sod it, I deserve to wallow in someone's gushy happiness. I deserve to be blamed for someone's exciting new relationship, however tangentially. I've earned it! Don't try to take it away from me!!!

What I don't get is what any of that has to do with Barbelith

Nothing specific, I'd imagine. When I gush I tend to leave the thinking just outside the door, add that to the fact they wanted to let us all know, and I can see how the thank you Barbelith thing came about.

Either that, or Seth and Netaungrot have formed an unholy NLP alliance, and are manipulating our minds with mentalism.

They're great, they are. I'm so glad I sent them all that money.

What I don't get is what any of that has to do with Barbelith. Seems a bit like thanking Starbucks because you met somebody who hangs out there.

Well, yeah, fair enough. I can't speak for Kali, but if it had been the International Guild Of Stamp Collectors that had introduced us, I'd now be profoundly grateful to philatelists worldwide. But in this case, it was Barbelith.

And Nina, the way I see it, Barbelith created the opportunity but now that the opportunity has been created the success or failure is entirely on our heads. To extend the above analogy, were this some sort of love story writ in postage, I would be awesomely grateful to the Stamp Guild but I would not burn my collection if things didn't work out. No worries there.

So like Kali, I'm profoundly grateful that Barbelith exists, because without it this never would've happened.

HAPPY HOORAY BARBELITH.

There is an old story, a beautiful story, about a boy who came home famished after long hours of play with his friends.

EVIL WAS BORN, AND FOLLOWED THE BOY.

Nah, seriously, twee and gushy though this thread may be, I think that given the amount of GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!! everywhere (not just on Barbelith, just in the world in general) we could do with a bit of saccharine.

Gourami, I think the point is expression and sharing of happy, not whether any of us are directly responsible.

True, although the role I played in this shouldn't be overlooked.

Already decided, my friend. Already decided. When you take everything into account, I was always going to be the obvious choice.

I have already decided that despite the occasional naysayer, I don't really care. It doesn't change the fact I love MattS and he makes me smile even when he's not around.

Ahem. Sorry. It's just... it's awful if you think that people are saying nay. It's not a nice place for you to be. God knows, some people here are probably manfully fighting back tears at the thought that you're off the market, and no doubt the same applies on the frozen streets of Canada, but the spirit seems jocular rather than condemnatory. It's quite rare on Barbelith for people to think that people are being _less_ nice than they actually are.

And speaking of Canada.

You shall eat off a single tummy.

I was actually referring to MattS's response to Nina's post.

Which now sounds awfully complicated when I think about it.

%And yes, I'm sure there are loads of men who are horrified that I am no longer available.%

Lula, droit de siegneur is what they call the Lord's right to deflower any virgins on his estate. I was just wondering if it applied for Princesses too.

pshaw!

I plan on toasting 'Trix and bringing her treats and so won't even notice what you two are up to. My gaze will be filled up with the glory that is the bad little club she's told me about. So no worries.

Princess, Denfeld is the King of Barbelith.

I think that means you have to call him "Daddy."

Nah, I think I'm more like one of those spare Princesses. Like a spare cousin or something.

Actually, I think I'm an embassy. From the sea. Yeah. That's it.

Have you considered dating Scarlet156, Swashbuckling? I think it could be an interesting fit.

Meanwhile, at the reception, Megatron has got lucky with a bridesmaid. And she's a leeetle beeet kinky.

I don't do medical peeps. My mom's a midife and my SO's mom is a radiographer. I've nothing against them, but if we ever went to the cinema it might feel a bit Oedipal.
