Can Someone explain very briefly what exactly is the state of the DCU post-Infinite Crisis, cos I really can't be arsed to re-read it.

I think I really like the idea of tranny Black Canary. Just seems like the natural progression for her.

LOL. I hadn't noticed.

Thanks for pointing that out

As I said over in the random thoughts thread, I really like Red Robin. There's something kind of classic about the character design... he just feels more stately, more important than Nightwing. A true sucessor to Batman

REAL TEARS! REAL HEADS ON WRONG WAY!

Agreed that Red Rob looks far more like his "own man" here than as Knightwing. Although at first I thought he was Dr. Mid-nite.

Let's face it, though, if he was he'd have his pet owl Hooty on the go and you can't have two animal sidekicks on the scene. Not when PIRATE BATMAN is clearly expecting JACK THE BAT-PARROT to swoop in at any moment.

Bah, look at that chainmail! That's not Pirate Batman, that's Sir Batman, Knight of the Round Table!

Crusader Batman more like

But certainly not a pirate.

That *is* is a Legion flight ring, by the way, in that pic.

Although, looking at the original pic, that clearly is a medieval Batman. My crown is sundered!

Bah! Batman is the Ultimate Ninja™. You can dress him up in pirate garb all you want, but that doesn’t change the fact that he’s a ninja.

but I thought that the Nth Man was the ultimate ninja?

little help?

see, when you say something, it isnt always true.
often, when you say stuff about yourself it's totally not true.

the nth man is not the ninja he wishes he was.
he is not batman.
plus, he's marvel.

Nth clearly has a black belt in being awesome. Proof? His shell casings have muzzle flashes: that means EVEN HIS BULLETS ARE FIRING BULLETS.

And he has Spiderman for a frickin' leg. But how do you pronounce his name? Niff? Enth?

You pronounce his name like a gasp of quiet awe.

you can see a tiny hand poking out of the rubble- the Atom's hand.

The Atom's tiny hand makes me feel oddly sad for some reason... far sadder than Superman's tears or the broken Statue of Liberty.

Legion ring or a Flash ring? How many more Flashes are there to kill off?

Atom's hand makes the pic even sadder because it implies he's still alive under the ground... and nobody's listening to his screams.

Three. But one wears a hat, not a ring.

DC does seem to be stuck in a retro-rut - it's stupid - things like 'it's not a crisis without a Flash dying' have completely put me off of reading comics of late - the only way I've kept in touch is through this site, and the only things that have caught my fancy haven't managed to convince me to hunt them down and read them.

oh and Nth Man is awsome, if only for being able to swing a katana without severing his arm, while firing an uzi, the most awsome of awsome gun's, with an awsome old man pony tail and an deven more awsomer awsome look on his awsome face.... or something.

Triplets
12:27 / 30.01.07
He is awesome. However, he appears to be wielding an AK-47 and twirling his katana. Deadly and able to cheer for the East Compton Clovers.

Benny the Ball
14:25 / 30.01.07
ah, quite right Triplets, that'll teach me to presume what guns are awsome! Perhaps Mike Zeck (or someone who draws incredibly like him) had moved off of his Punisher and Uzi phase by the time he got to that cover!

FinderWolf
16:51 / 30.01.07
the signature says Ron Wagner (at the time employed by Marvel and First Comics intermittenly, IIRC) but it's def. a Zeck vibe he's doing there.

Nth Man wiki page.

I seem to remember having one issue of this comic and one point and being weirded and creeped out by Alfie's powers, I seem to remember something about someone being eaten by a swarm of locusts and the corpse being rather...well-drawn. He also made a fake Silver Surfer or something. Ring any bells?

Maybe we should move over to a highly improbable Nth Man thread...

nth man is awesome for sure.
batman is more of a ninja, though.

why are you all so blind to the truth?!
who can out-ninja batman?

Sorry, but the cover says 'Ultimate' and no cover has ever lied in the history of cover claims.

Nth Man is the Ultimate Ninja. Accept no substitutes.

I love Larry Hama's work more than most, it's true, but 'Nth Man' was a Hama download, his own personal 'Invisibles' or something. And it had a crossover with 'Excalibur'. Batman never crossovered (crossedover?) with 'Excalibur' and has in fact never to my knowledge been in a single comic with a fake Galactus loony, Nightcrawler and Phoenix. And the blonde Russian killer in 'Nth Man' was better looking and superiorly spoken than the KGBeast.

Batman's a better pirate, though. Science pirate. Who doesn't steal - I think.

Which, clearly, is what InfiniCrises was about: Building a better science ninja. With bat ears.

Nth man is obviously a poseur otherwise he'd know that Ninji wield NINJADO (which is a straight blade with a square hand guard) and not Katana (the curved one) which are really only meant to be used by Samurai.

See below:

Ninjado

Katana

Remember the film 'Ronin'? It's a toolkit. Use the tools for the job.

Ninja - Samurai - Ronin... quick, someone tie in a Yojimbo reference or something!

Oh, and is Moorcock still in charge of a bible of DCU magic? Or was that pre-new-infini-panic thing?

Mario
18:27 / 30.01.07
Moorcock wrote something a while ago, but I suspect that was the end of his involvement. I keep trying (on his message board) to get him to send it to me.

Oh, and it's "ninja-to".

Spaniel

This is one fucking weird thread.

Could people take the Katanas and stuff elsewhere. There's always room for a Larry Hama/Nth Man thread if someone wants to post it.

Boring, I know, but I have to try.
