Well?? Are we all on the wagon or something? 5 days without a booze post.

I am sipping a nice Rioja whilst listening to Muddy Waters and probably a whole load of other music as the evening progresses. (is that really how you spell progresses. No red lines....apparently so).

I'm a little maudlin as all my "friends" are rubbish and I have nothing to do on a Friday night except type and drink. But tomorrow I am going taking photos with a new acquaintance, then later I'm off to a flamenco concert in an open air amphitheatre.

What are you lot doing?

Well, mainly wishing I could go to a flamenco concert in an open-air theatre, but, y'know...

What are you lot doing?
Making rope, or more specifially taking smaller rope and re-twisting it into a thicker strand.
But because you've inspired me, I will now go open a bottle of red (valpolicella?) and put on some blues music.

Some of the new pages have been approved on Primary Project X, so a bottle of Old Crow is (along with some recently rediscovered Neko Case CDs) helping me celebrate.

In just a bit, here, I should feel validated as a human being.

Nice, glad to inspire someone out there with one of my favourite vices.

I've moved from Blues to Gospel. Mahalia Jackson. Excellent. I bought it for my flat-mate (we have the same birthday. Weird) and now I've sneakily copied it before moving out next month.

This video is the type of Flamenco I shall be seeing. Eva Yerbabuena (the one who has her jacket removed for her). I imagine that it will be a very polished and glitzy show, but still worth seeing. I prefer it a bit more raw, in my limited experience of the music.

Nice. But I prefer not going to see flamenco if its going to be in black and white.

Tell us more about the rope.

Saint Keggers
21:32 / 20.07.07
Well, either jute or hemp, not really sure how to tell without a lable on the wrapping. Its a nice dark cardboard shade of brown, approximatly 1/2 the thickness of a pencil, which is too thin for what I need.

COG
21:49 / 20.07.07
and what do you need it for?

rope is old school. It's all cable ties and nylon webbing these days. I like the creak of rope. Hemp is stronger than steel, or so I heard in the theatre world.

I'm a happy bunny on Southern Comfort. And I just watched the Exorcist on TCM for the very first time despite my advanced years!

Perfect Friday night.

And the taste is pure ambrosia. Salute Olympians!

22:08 / 20.07.07
Hi teleute! Welcome aboard. Well I must admit I've never actually seen all of The Exorcistm although maybe enough bits and pieces here and there to add up to the whole thing. Whats TCM?

This Sunday
22:12 / 20.07.07
TCM = Turner Classic Movies, I'd assume. And, dude, go rent The Exorcist. Funniest movie ever? Just about. I think people with any sense of a Christian background (lapsed or otherwise) respond differently, though, it might succeed at being seven shades of scary for you, which is good, too.

And what's the rope-of-many-ropes for, then?

Oh. Im going using it for a photoshoot.

Perhaps not funniest ever, but the pea soup was particularly entertaining. I believe that it may have been slightly cut for viewing, as the head spinning / crucifix ... er... playing scenes were not as bad as I'd recalled!

TCM is a slightly more upmarket satilite channel available on Sky - more upmarket than movies for men, or True Movies (but only just!)

And thank you for the welcome! It took the liquor to make me brave!

22:48 / 20.07.07
Ah liquor! Is there anything it cant do?

I find the bit of verbing a certain four letter word beginning with 'c' quite hilarious, but possibly because my mom does it, when a situation calls for it, in a dead-on possessed voice that's never far from my head when I re-watch the film. Context of a first experience, I guess.

And it's likely been cut for viewing; as I recall, the crucifix scene is quite... it's the sound FX that do it. Actually, sound-wise it is a horrific little film. Dialogue-wise it's... you have to be terrified of foul-mouthed rebellious children, I think. Or the devil.

Having just read the title abstract I've decided to put on some ac/dc.

Ah... Highway to hell. Im in metal glee euphoria.

It's funny, I'm in the throes of Metal! right now, because I realized today I own the Iron Maiden greatest hits album. I have no idea how I came to own it, and am pretty sure I've actually never seen it before today, but there it was, and so into the CD-player did it go.

So, I've gone Prince to Neko Case to Marilyn Manson to doing Maiden at high volume in the past few hours. Truly can alcohol make many things better. Betterer, even.

I didn't know whether to post in Urgh! Fuck! or Gives me a Happy, so I came here. I'm trying to drink my stress away. I shouldn't complain, my stress is nothing compared to many people's. Just one of those days, one of those week kind of things. I don't usually drink much, but I was thinking today, "tonight, I drink."
And now, the prophecy is fulfilled.
If anyone wants to talk rope, I'm game. I'm a big fan of double carrier Amsteel.

Stoatie, if nobody calls you Buffy, yet, you might as well start learning to like it. It's gonna be a hard conflation to shake.

And what in the world does your new handle mean? I hadn't even noticed it before, but 'shot web'?

Got back from the Emerald Isles today, after two weeks of travel. Alas the tradition of much stout and cider each night cannot be maintained once one returns home to their own lands of nether. I am currently sampling the german beer of Felsgold in my parent's humble abode, rearranging and treasuring memory of a vacation well spent. Irish music still plays in my head, accompanying the sights of the Burren, the Sea and the Mountains imprinted on my mind.

Ah, front-loading. I haven't done that in ages.

Right. Off to my local for a few drinks to celebrate that in 9 to 12 months, my beloved will be here with me.

Red wine, Cava or hot whiskey? First I've got to get me a RJ11. Then we shall drink. Home-drinking. Damage limitation exercise in expectation of impending destruction of wallet come holidays in August.

And front-loaders unite! Makes you wonder what it'd be like to go on a vomit comet under the influence.

See ya on the Isle of Booze, you fucking beauties!
