(off-topic) I've always wondered why people say 'prince among men'. I mean, it's not as if you could be a prince among any other species, is it? Go up to a herd of gorilla and say 'hey, check me out, I'm prince' - that's not going to elicit much of an awe-based reaction, is it?
Though if you said 'check me out, I'm Prince', I think it would work, but only if you were Prince, obviously. Even the mightiest Silverback stands in awe of Purple Rain.
Anyway, to saunter gamely back onto the space labelled 'topic', I would very much like to add my name to the list of those crushing on XK. In the course of the past few days, I've noted, with no little degree of awe, that XK manages to completely confuse my notions of gender. I started off thinking ze 'was' 'male' because of all the knife-carrying and fighting, then got the impression ze 'was' 'female' based on other info, and have finally realised, from her posts on the genderqueer thread, that I actually don't know what gender she 'is'. Perhaps one of the saddest things about recent accusations herein that Barbelith had failed to live up to the Invisibles dream is the fact that XK was among those accused when ze hirself is, in fact, in hir mercurial, identity-shedding ontological fluency, the very embodiment of that dream. |
