I'm back here to crush id *again*, tedious I know but I just got directed to a discussion he joined in order to leave, which rules, then said the things I was going to say in the university shootings threrad. Especially 'No it fucking well isn't.' I thought that was particularly fantastic.

As to 'Prince among men', let me instead resort to a Naval compliment from long ago, and say while his back is turned that id is a man of shining parts. A glass to him! Huzzah!

"Prince" is a very common name among dogs, too. But I imagine being a "Prince" among dogs would be on the level of being, say, an "Alan" amongs men, so the compliment wouldn't be as great. That's probably why the "among men" part is important.

Aw, Quants. But joining a discussion group in order to then publicly leave it is one of the most childish things I've done in the last month or so, which is really saying something.

And I misread that as "shining pants". Which is in fact sometimes true.

Well there wasn't really anything unchildish you could do with that discussion, it'd gone that wrong.

I am also crushing id, obvs.

I'm crushing all the brave folk who spoke up and held up in that hell pit of a discussion. Especially rosie x though as I don't believe I could have been as generous if someone was saying such evil shit about my Beloved Gods. I would have most likely completely lost my temper.

I <3 rosie x!

Yeah, your writing's gorgeous, rosie x, thanks so much.

I'm also feeling a big love for Gypsy Lantern in the same line, and I am so pleased to see him posting again too.

And Talks to strangers: big respect and blessings, you're inspiring and awesome.

Also to others of you who have also been out there fighting the good fight against ignorance under less obviously connected fictionsuits: hope you're able to feel the comfort and peace of your sound intentions.

Ohmigosh, I just saw Lula's crushlist!

Hubby and I totally crush you and Mix right back, Lula dear. And you should probably be informed that we have a secret plan to come and live with you someday.

I crush Haus and also Quants, for being very understanding of random paranoia.

My crushlist is pretty huge right now, and if I've said anything snarkless to you lately you can probably assume you're on it. Feel special.

But particularly Mordant, rosie x, and XK, for all the reasons mentioned earlier, and XK even more particularly for wrangling the compilation project. It's not an easy job and I'm glad someone besides me is doing it.

I will endlessly and for all boardernity crush Mordant for being one of the most fascinating people I have ever met, and I agree about XK. She's diplomacy personified, with a huge pot of quality and care thrown in. Also huge brain. Huge.

I also crush Randy because I have never actually written it before and yet I always think it when I come across his posts.

I completely crush Lula because she is aces, and also Mix, who I wish was still around these parts. And I crush Sekhmet, who I miss and wish we saw more of and am pleased to see posting.

I've only just read the Ultraculture thread. I don't know much about magic but it was a really interesting and ~ combined with the intertexts like Mordant's LJ page and the Ultraculture editor's forum polemic ~ a shocking read. Obviously, the whole affair ended sadly and badly.

However, some small good has come of it because I wouldn't have read Mordant's piece on Loki otherwise. I understand why you wanted it removed from the journal, Mordant, but for what it's worth I really liked your article. It was informed, reasoned, witty, honest. It's actually the first piece I've read, despite my browsing of the Temple here, that helped me understand what magical practice is "really" like (because you put it in terms someone outside the culture can understand ~ some of the Temple posts talk about experiences I can't engage with) and because you relate what I'd consider uncanny events to stuff I can understand, like historical and textual research.

So, props to you and I hope in some small way that makes up for your article being still included in a journal you (understandably) don't want any part of.

Bed Head! I miss you, alway seemingly stumbling in to threads far and wide with all the charisma of a polite rock star perpetually almost spilling his wine but in reality never losing or wasting a drop and then leaving you ungaurded for the inevitable spouting of brilliant and infectiously enthusiastic words about art or Jermaine Defoe or Battlestar Galactica or any number of wonderful things that always surely followed, and probably painting a picture at the same time.

He is my Doctor Who. Way less boggly than Tennant-face!

I totally crush XK for using "wicked" as an adverb in the "Temple Presents" thread in Creation. It made me wicked homesick!

This Sunday
16:59 / 23.04.07
I'll add an adjoining XK barbecrush, just because for fabulous communications capacity. I'm very good in the temple forum at misinterpretting or transliterating statements, but XK's stuff, I can see right where it's coming from. And agree a lot, which can't hurt. That's a bit underrated a talent, I fear. So, crush. Yes.

I'm quite convinced, after long periods of careful, studied observation, that grant is by far the bestest poster on Barbelith.

If I could have him made as a plush doll, threaded with his own hair and kept in an ornately carved wooden box that I'd keep by my bed and open sporadically just to giggle with glee and shut fast again, I would.

I absolutely one-post crush. That's all it takes. Case in point: imaginary mice and her post in the puzzles thread. Actually, it's built up from many other posts as well, but that kitteh-pic just made me completely blank on the thirty something pages of screenplay I was beta-reading, casually glancing at it.

I then considered noting it in the 'gives a happy' thread, found some old imaginary mice posts that then spurred me over here. No choice in the matter, really.

Wee-hee, my first barbecrush! It's the polos wot done it.

This Sunday
19:19 / 18.05.07
The polos, or at least, you posting about them, was definitely a factor.

And even better, the puzzle pic forced me to go back and discover a major one-note flaw in the script while I'd just been reading for grammar/spelling. Saved me the grief of giving a false okeh. Unintentional, but totally helpful.

Barbecrushing Catweazle for this, in headshop:

To flip this upside down, what if some piece of profound evidence was presented that completely overturned our understanding of race or sex? What if it completely convinced us that white, European men were in fact NOT superior to all other beings? Proof that human beings are much more alike than different?

What might that be like?
