It's where the best baseball players in Major League Baseball get together and play a game against each other. It's supposed to be an exibition game but Bud Selig, being the idiot that he is, decided that the winning league's representative in the World Series would have home field advantage. I watched about half the game this year because it was held in beautiful PNC Park, the best stadium in the country.

It's sad to see what baseball has become.

Baseball, monk. Are you an Overseasian?

It's a baseball game with players voted in by fans (the All-Stars) from each League, where the winner determines home field advantage in the World Series (a best-of-seven championship). It usually sucks, but I watch it anyway, because it's the only baseball for a three-day period.

Cleaning gum out of the carpet? I remember my Mom cutting off a chunk of my hair when I was just a tot due to that sort of thing.

Dude.

No no. Just totally unaware of baseball and its comings and goings. All I know about baseball is that Barry Bonds ain't right.

Barry Bonds is very, very wrong. My screen name this month actually refers to his wrongness. Fuck him.

Does he get the asterisk in the record books? I hope so.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

Me too, but I doubt it. I imagine it'll be more in the public consciousness than anything else. Bonds' 715 is the yang to the 1919 Black Sox' yin.

Harsh.

I must bid you farewell. Turn out the lights when you're done, eh?

Night, Monk. The lights-out won't be for hours yet, though.

I'm sitting here in the dark, waiting for Slim to defend his PNC Park = Best Park comments. With faceknives.

There can be no true objective ratings for what the best park is. But ESPN has ranked it as the best park in MLB for two seasons in a row. Here's an example:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stadiums

ESPN isn't the official source of anything but I think it lends credence to my claims. PNC is one of the newer parks and better constructed than any other in the league. Its view is also top-notch and tickets are incredibly cheap. The only problem is that the team playing inside it is terrible. Worse than terrible.

I shouldn't have said stadium because there might be football teams playing in better venues. But I don't think that there is a baseball park in the country than can hold a candle to PNC Park.

Coincidently, I revisited the ESPN site and found that Page 2 columnist Jim Caple just did a video on the top ten reasons why PNC Park is the best park in baseball.

Eating? And in need of a drink.

Shall email you that story later tonight, kegs.

Done like dinner. I probably shouldn't have reread the thing before I sent it off, though, on accounts of certain prose does not age well in the prosist's mind...

I'm here. Sweating at my job and wishing I could open a window...but since the residents have busted all the screens, it woudl lead to a mass of bugs streaming into the house, and I hate bugs more than heat.

I'm here as well... Sweating in my apartment. I just got through with a late night session of swimming. I go to work at 3 p.m. and I have an exam in Symbolic Logic at 9 a.m. Friday. I really don't know how I'll manage my time over the next 24 hours. The TV is off, I guess that's a start.

I'm having cocktails. My buddy told me to make mojitos with tequila instead of rum, but I find it shit, really. I threw a little Grand Marnier in there and that helped, but I do not recommend it.

I've just finished enjoying the new Haus thread in policy, as well. Barbelith is highly entertaining.

Oh, cocktails. Now I am seething with envy. You know, working an overnight shift would be a LOT easier if they'd let me have a couple of mixed drinks every hour. I wonder if I could blame it on the residents here...

You're going to hate me even more when I tell you that I'm allowed to drink lightly at work. My workday starts with a tasting of whatever delicious wine is featured that evening, continues with sips of various wines and ends with a hearty cocktail after all the customers have left.

Oh, I don't hate you for that. I hate that I got laid off from my job and STILL have to work the crappy shifts in order to maintain my "unemployement" payments for when I'm not working.

Hi barbeliciousnesses.

Am I to infer that no-one is awake, tipsy or not?

Hi Stoats!

I'm busy-ish, too. At work, toiling the night shift, lapping occasionally like a kitten at the creamy contents of the saucer we call the Barb.

On my return home I shall fire up World of Warcraft and crack open some icy cans of Becks, then retire to bed at 11am, befuddled.

Damn you and your WoWiness! My account's been frozen due to my being crap at not maxing out my credit card before the month's payment...

Deliberately depriving an individual of WoW access is seriously mean, and quite naughty too. Naughty Blizzard.

And naughty Alienware, for making me wait another two weeks (at least) for this:

Yes, it isn't the most 'harmonious' of designs.

Unless you live in a factory.

But it more than makes up for what it lacks in subtle understatement in raw, unadulterated, pixel-pushing beastliness. And the like.

And that's good enough for me, what with me being a techno-tw@ and everything.

Saint Keggers

Does it make crop circles? 'Cause if it dont make crop circles I dont see the point of getting no 'alien' ware.

Sweet gaming rig!

Hi everyone. I'm a little tipsy, and a little excited about having two consecutive days off for the first time in weeks.

Yay! Gongrats on the vacation Jake. How are you going to fill up your time?
