Doesn't everyone on here read policy?

No. And that's where a lot of our problems lie.

We're still missing a few regulars... just cos everyone KNOWS you post in this forum doesn't mean you shouldn't post in here. I'm trying to get an idea of numbers here. And that's gonna be bollocks if I have to rely on memory, and say "well, that's x number of people, plus Haus, Nina etc...". I drink a lot of booze, remember?

I have a browse here everytime I log in but have never posted. Am quite new to the internet generally and Barbelith is the only message board I've joined and reading Policy threads has been really useful in getting a handle on how the board works and how people relate to it. Like a few people have said there's also an aspect of finding out what's currently happening on the board.

For what it's worth as a new member I never got the impression it was a mostly-for-mods part of the board. It seems odd that it has a reputation as a little read thread given it's about the one thing everyone here has in common.

I read and seldom post. I only come here once or twice a week, out of nosiness, unless there's a blinder of an argument raging about something.

Policy is probably the second or third forum I read, after Comics, maybe Conversation, when the World Cup isn't on.

I browse through the Policy at least once per barbelith visit.

Policy is always the first forum I read on barbelith.

Incidentally this is the first time I've been online today. Barbelith was the first site I visited and Policy was the first page.

Check it every day but seldom get involved as I'm seldom exercised enough about how things are to weigh in. When I do I usually cock up (I'm still wearing the kneejerk cockmuppet hat from the recent apps incident, by the way). Like to know what the state of the apps process is on a regular basis as I do throw myself into it when I have time.

Pretty much the first place I look at, pretty much every time I come on to Barbelith. Just haven't been around much today.

I am Anna's evil twin and I claim my five pounds.

Actually, I usually visit conversation first and the policy, but everytime I look at Barbelith I look at Policy.

I don't always reply to threads but I read everything new here. It's quite slow if you know the threads well.

I read the Policy every time I log onto Barbelith, which is almost daily. It's great to be aware of just how transparent a lot of the administrative functions of Barbelith are. I rarely feel the need to post in here, though, simply because most of the discussions get a little too enthused after a while and I feel that if I post to a topic that there is the chance I'll come off as sounding mis-informed. And yes, this is even after reading a topic in its whole.

Policy is also fun to read when the shit hits the fan re:trolls.

I check policy every time I check Barbelith, it's one of my 'must see' forums. I read alot more than I contribute, but I'm here.

'I like the pol-icy because I real-ise, when I read it, that what's stick-ing to the back of my hand might be the next gen-er-ation, if I went about things diff-erently.

I feel like I've murd-ered a gen-eration of Welsh-speakers, though.'

i don't check the 'Lith as often as I used to but I always check the Policy when I do. I hardly ever post here though, I just read it to catch up on details of the really big fights and controversies.

I read policy whenever I come to Barbelith. I can't, however, pretend to always understand it.

the bookmark links up the top of my browser include some b-fora, and policy is second, third link overall.

What I meant to say was that when I come to Barbelith, I read the Policy. I try to read it every day so I know if there are any major problems, but I will be honest - after doing that every day for roughly seven or eight years, I do occasionally miss days and occasionally - when I'm travelling with work - miss weeks. Apologies for not putting more of my life on here!

If I'm on Barbelith then I read the policy. I don't always post here that often because (as ever on Barbelith) normally someone else has said what I was going to say but more eloquently. Also I fear conflict and posts that say "can't everybody just get along?" aren't all that helpful.
However I will say that to me Policy is one of the most interesting things about the 'lith. I mean here on Barbelith we are creating our very own community and we get to debate how it should work, what problems are around, what ideals the community aims for. Politics without actually having to become an M.P.
I get the feeling this is what those first meetings after a successful revolution (a more geeky analogy would be after founding your interstellar colony) would be like and that fascinates me.

Always look in when on the lith. To see what's going on, and if I can stick my oar in anywhere.

(sorry threadrot: I fear conflict and posts that say "can't everybody just get along?" aren't all that helpful.

I often want to say that too. Perhaps we could start a faction. If there were 20 of us maybe it could get through occasionally.)

We could actually do with some Policy headcrabs, though.

This is all very interesting... I'll leave it a few more days and then we should have a fairly good idea how many people read the thing. Not much practical use until we figure out how many members are actually active, but it'll be a start. (And from a personal point of view I'll know who not to take my frustrations out on when I get cross that nobody seems to pay the forum any attention).

I'm not a regular poster to any part of the board, but I lurk daily, and visit here as much as any other forum, no excuse not to really. It is, in my mind, the most important part of Barbelith.

Plus, all the big fights.

I check it once or twice a week.

12:35 / 26.06.06
I check Policy at least weekly to see what's going on, and if something catches my interest I'll be back daily to stay updated (or, if things are slow at work, keep the page open and keep hitting reload to watch the action unfold before my eyes).
