I actually bought an XBox 360 specifically to get this game, based on my enjoyment of Morrowind. This is the only game on the 360 that I've gotten every achievement, and I still enjoy it. I've been trying out strategies to get one uber-powerful character...one that's good at everything.

One thing I really like about this game is how it scales the enemies to the characters. If one jumps straight into the main quest, it isn't terribly hard. If one waits, however, the enemies in the Oblivion gates get obscenely tough.

Another thing I've noticed: if one starts the main quest, then steps away from it, gates start opening ALL OVER THE PLACE...next to towns, along roads. Depending on whether one wants that sort of end-of-the-world feel...that might be the coolest thing ever. Otherwise, I tend to avoid anything to do with the main quest until I'm ready for it.

I've tried out two different strategies, and had very different results.

I tried to use the training to up my main skills as fast as possible. Unlike Morrowind, a character can only get 5 sessions of training per level...so one must plan accordingly. The problem with this technique: the enemies get very very very tough...next to impossible to handle.

So I started again with a different strategy--I always get the 5 training sessions per level, but always in my minor skill set. As I was playing a spellsword, I initially put all of my training into armory--not a major skill, but a very useful one none-the-less. I've found this has helped my character handle most anything she stumbles upon.

...houses become much more handy if one becomes a vampire.
...and horses help speed up the insta-travel, again very useful if one is a vampire. Nothing sucks as bad as being in the middle of nowhere as the sun is coming up.

All in all, I've really enjoyed this game...but then again I tend to prefer this type of Euro-style RPG.
