Suedey shares his body with nobody but me. Well.... sometimes with other too, but only if

A. We've talked about it at length beforehand
B. We both agree it'll add "spice"
C. I'm allowed to watch.

So, 'Dreen, finally gonna make yourself known next week?

That's the plan. Is there a day set?

zoom it all about and watch a new episode of Lost in the corner.
Yes, it's pretty. Do you know how it works or what program is doing it, though. I love it but it bothers me. It's like a new lover. Hell, given my track record it is my new lover. I just don't trust it, especially when it tells me it doesn't like freshly minted Doctor Who AVIs.

Barely. My eyes hurt from screen burn. And yet I still post on the Lith the moment I get home.

Is there a day set?

No, I may have to get authoritarian on their bottoms. Friday is good for me (and, i guess NG and TTT) as we have geektastic RPG fun on Saturdays...

Suedey.

You know when you double click a window and it sort of melts into the dock like that. Do it while holding down shift.

Eh? EH?

Hello Dave! You don't sound so happy. Let the shift love you up big style!

VLC is my friend! I love it.

It's mostly little things like that that need working out again, really. How do I burn dvds? How do I put my dvds on my computer? Whats the best thing for downloading musics? etc.

As well as that I find on a PC - even when I know what I'm doing - I'm not very bothered if it breaks down about five times and you just muddle through. But with the apple if something goes wrong I feel like it's my fault. I mean, I know all computers break down and crash and the like, but it's a strange sensation. Like there's a right way and a wrong way (at least this is how it seems). And on a PC there's just a muddle that somehow works... which is something I find comforting to be honest. Although I'm not the greatest at looking after a machine...

Oh, Mel! I know all about that stuff. That's, like, totally old to me.

It's even worse (damn this is a geeky shift) because I know OSX is built on Linux. I know a fair bit about Linux but the fear I have of screwing up this shiny thing is so overpowering that I haven't even opened a console yet.

Built on Unix, innit? Linux being an OS based on Unix, but not proprietary?

Kind of. GNU Linux, the original, was effectively a rebuild of UNIX but it stood for "GNU's Not UNIX" in a strange bit of recursive acronymity.

I let my brother fuck about with console. He actually knows what he's doing.

I've had one major problem with my 'book since I got it and there was quite a bit of hassle trying to get it fixed (including Scotsys, liscened apple retailer, trying to fuck me about). Apart from that, nothing.

After spending lots of money on memory and an airport card, I had about a week where I couldn't look at my mac without vivid visions of it either blowing up, getting dropped or getting violently punched by myself. This was uncontrollable and disconcerting, but seems to have passed.

Scotsys, liscened apple retailer

Oh, the joy. I had about two days to buy mine as a tax loss thingummy so I went to Scotsys in Embra. Said I wanted one. Now. The reply came: "Might take a few weeks, guv."
Buggered off sharpish to John Lewis, did I. Took 15 minutes.

Scotsys actually stands for "Scotsys are wanks" in a recursive acronym that's not actually an acronym at all.

... what's the console?

La la la. I'm just here, living in my little naive ignorant land.

Ah, Stoat! I'd finally figured out the best way to burn DVDs on the PC after trawling the internet for many years, and I feel sad to let it go! At least, it worked for me very nicely. Essentially I'd use DVD Decrypter (which cracks the code and puts the files on yr hard drive), and then something called Clone DVD (which... well, you can probably guess) and it was all simple as anything.

Technology annoys me, there's all sorts of things you can do and so many progams to do it... sometimes it seems incredibly hard to find out how to something very simple because all you can find is how to guides that tell you how to change the formats of 80 dvds and beam movies in to your mind in a dual layer format while spinning cds in our cranium. Yes.
