Many years ago I used to pass the Royal Docks in London on the train quite frequently, and always thought whenever passing their company sign that there had been a huge opportunity lost in ordering the names in the firm of Green and Silley Weir.

Baobab Branches and Plastic

Also I know this guy who's last name is Elmer: Academically inclined he stopped at an MSc cos he knew that whenever he would introduce himself as Elmer Phd someone would invariably answer 'eeen What's Up Doc?'

All Acting Regiment
13:14 / 27.02.06
Guys, they haven't posted yet. It's a bit unfair to start ripping the name.

The Falcon
13:33 / 27.02.06
Dude, it's not really ripping it; it's just like when someone appends their name with a 23 (as I did on other internets sites when I started,) only like some kind of ur-version.

I like the name. I think it's great. So does gumbitch, I think.

They have posted, can't remember where it was. However, it was not a three page stream of consciousness thread in T'Temple SO LAY OFF.

Less searchable M0rd4nt

I saw that, I thought it was pretty grand too, probably for the same reasons. I have xampayne2012 as an email addy which is because xampayne = cava, which is what I will be drinking in 2012 to celebrate yet another nonapocalypse.

Anyhow I see this thread has slipped back into the warm familiar territory of funnyfunnyforiegnness. I think it's hilarious how that girl's name sounds a bit like "whore!" I bet she's a total slag too, hahahaha!

Some years ago I worked at a large psychiatric hospital in Hull called De La Pole wherein I met a woman with the most unfortunate name of Della Pole - I shudder to think what torments she went through at school.

Jack Fear

Mm. Names that are funny in the proper context.

Another one: Here in the States, there's currently a long-running investigation of former White House aide Lewis Libby. And the National Public Radio correspondent who's covering the ongoing story is named Libby Lewis. You can hear the news anchors suppress a chuckle whenever they read the lede nd throw the story over.

Whisky Priestess

A few years ago I discovered that there was a person in the world called Ransom Love (he's a big computer exec type person, formerly of Caldera).

He made his way into my novel as an paedophiliac ex-hurdler of Finnish descent. Alas, I may have to change the character's name before/if it ever gets published.

Daemon est Deus Inversus

Let's not forget the late Archbishop of Manilla, Jaime, Cardinal Sin.

When I was there the name of the president of my college was:

Victor E. Ferrall, Jr.

I first learned his name from the parody issue of the paper, so I thought it was a joke. "Victory For All"? Haha, what's really the name of the president? What?

The part that really gets me is that someone named their child that not once but twice. Hell, there could be a 3rd or even a 4th running around by this point, too.
