Then read this and laugh at (nearly) all quantitative social scientists and their puny intellects. Not me though, I do qualitative stuff...

If a person were to use Itunes to download a tv show, would they then be able to put the file of said show onto transferrable media, or is it locked to the person's id/computer?

I only ask because there's an American show that I would like to see and I can't get it on UK Itunes - I'm guessing copyright reasons - and I'm not wanting to do anything questionably legal; I'm willing to pay for it, but, y'know, can't.

is bomber a brand, or a style of smoothie?
Sorry for the delay, I thought I had A this Q from the previous page already; "bomber" is just slang for very strong.

What is it you want? A film still or a photo of a real life castle? The real life Cinderella's castle is at Disney world and that's easy in google so you can't mean that.

I need more input.

The number you get is always divisible by 9. Every number divisible by 9 has the same symbol. When you click the square, it shows you that symbol. It shuffles the symbols after each click so that a different symbol is associated with every number divisible by 9.

Ta! It was the divisible by 9 bit that foxed me, my math-fu is weak. I still can't quite believe it- Think of any number with 2 digits & subtract from this number its 2 digits and the result is a factor of nine... that's baffling by itself!

A question for the uk-folk.

Assuming i pay my TV license, would it be legal for me to download recorded television material from bittorrent sites, as long as it is shown on the BBC?

I mean, i've alreay paid for it, so it's mine... isn't it?

TV licenses allow you to operate a television set at your house, weirdly enough you actually need more than one if someone has a TV in a lockable room. Although the beeb uses the license to pay for making it's programs I have STRONG FEELING it still counts as illegal.

How do stunt pegs attach to bmx bikes?

Would it be possible to put pegs on a road/racing bike?

The only pegs I've seen screw directly onto the axle, either behind or in place of the nuts (I want to call 'em lug nuts, but they probably have a different name.)

If your road bike has quick-release fittings on the wheel - no, they won't fit, you'll need a new spindle. Otherwise, if it's the good old nut-and-bolt fitting, yes they will fit. I have done this, it is greatly amusing and slightly dangerous.

Ace!

..... how dangerous?

the pegs on road bike idea is definitely a poor one (well, it's clearly an awesome idea, but still a really bad awesome idea). bmx/freestyle bikes are build to take that kind of stress on the axles, road bikes definitely aren't. i'm not saying that anything catastrophic would happen, but the likelihood isn't something i'd mess with.

also, if your looking more for whimsical people-transporting peg-usage than radical trix peg-usage, you might check ebay for these:

Does anyone know where I can get a nice advent calendar from? I'm asking early because I'm aware it may have to be shipped from abroad.

Open to any and all suggestions.

Not yet, no. Do they have anything nice?

Tasting nice or looking nice? Montezuma's do an advent calendar, and the chocolate's great (and organic) but it's not as visually intricate as some.
You can get milk/white, or all plain.
Also:
WARNING! Alarmed Box. Only open one window a day otherwise an alarm will sound at Chocolate HQ and a pixie will call.

Coincidentally I was given two Montezuma's bars over the weekend.

I'm thinking more looking nice than tasting nice. I'm also considering the wooden advent calendar option.

The wooden one will make you happy because you will think how lovely and natural and traditional it is, but a big gaudy chocolate one will make your child much happier.

I suppose it depends whether what you think about it is more important than what your child thinks.

Mines at the age where a Simpson's calendar is the greatest thing ever, even though I'd far prefer to buy the Montezuma's one, or even a wooden one. So we end up with mass-produced trash in our house, but that's the current world our children live in however much we may wish it wasn't.

Know any German Catholics? As far as nice wooden stuff in advent calendars, on average, I'm not sure they can be beat.

The thing is, you can put chocolate inside a wooden one, so it's not much of a compromise on that front. And at the age he is, he'll pretty much enjoy anything Christmassy, I reckon. I'm sure the magical world of corporate branding is just around the corner, however.

A wooden one with chocolate in would be wicked and then it could become a family tradition. You might even avoid the corporate nightmares then.

We have a fairly nice wooden one in the cupboard but my favourite has to be the fabric one my wife has had since childhood it's in the shape of a snowman. We have no idea where it came from but there seem to be loads of fabric ones online.

Something like this only white and shaped like a snowman, so not really like this:

It can't hurt to have a nice wooden or fabric calendar even if there is a plentiful supply of cheapo cardboard ones from relatives.

Many calendars is fine until they start going to school and you have a morning deadline, because then it's fifteen minutes to open each one and a big debate about the picture and five minutes discussion on what tomorrow's picture might be and just no.

Lol. That's something I would never have thought of, but must simply contain STRONG TRUTH

Fabric might be a way to go, but I'm lovin' the wood ones. We'll probably get a paper one too this year

Inspired by this thread, I went calender-hunting and found some very classy (and not cheap!) ones available from Macy's; Moonstruck, they're called.

Trying to order online for a friend of mine with a very soft spot for Miracle on 34th Street and all things New York but sadly they won't deliver for the UK.

Boo.

Though if you're prepared to lash out some cash on an advent calendar; these look good, from Hotel Chocolat:

Macy's sure does have some nice calendars, although I'm not too worried about the chocolate ones.

Well the wooden/fabric ones are re-fillable so instead of chocolate you could hunt out small christmasy things to surprise the nipper with each day.

Much more fun than a piece of chocolate!

I'm thinking a bit of both. Chocolate ranks highly on his llist of things that are extremely excellent, so I think it needs to have a presence.
