Mmmm....sushi. Of course, I have to get veggie sushi. And when I make it at home, I use Malt vinegar instead of rice vinegar.

Dragon Rolls are da bomb. They're delicious and generally quite expensive. But they're worth every penny if made right. When I get to Van, I'm going to stuff my face on sushi. My cousin had some sort of lobster roll while down there, and he said it was the very best sushi roll he ever had.

Solitaire, take your eggplant and make a sandwich. Seriously, it's good in sandwhiches too. Cut it into 1 inch slices, salt them, let them sit and sweat out their bitter juices, blot, and pan fry in olive oil until golden and done. Place the slices into a fresh roll/baguette, top with mozarella cheese slices or brie, garnish with tomatoes and/or slices of roasted red peppers (available in most upscale delis), drizzle with pesto, and salt and pepper to taste. Alternatively, you can make vegetarian lasagna, and put in slices of eggplant in that.

Wow, that's not too bad a pic of your groundhog, Keg. Bill Murray, the groundhog living under my garden shed, hasn't been seen in about a week. Just yesterday, I left some carrots near the burrow hole, but the dog got to it and dragged it across the garden instead.

Ooooo...the sammich sounds great. I've mostly been using it in soup, but I tried it deep fried last week, since the announcer on Iron Chef said it matches well with oil, but it came out tasting like it had just become a sponge for the oil.

Actually I had to edit the hell out of the pic in photoshop. For some reason the appature on the camera wouldnt change and so they all came out far too dark. Gonna have to (gasp)read the manual and see wtf went wrong.

That does sound like a quality sandwich, actually... hmm, may have to go aubergine shopping today.

Thanks for the compliments - that's a sandwhich of my own devising. Solitaire, eggplant is notorious for absorbing oil, it takes a good eye and some practice to know how much oil to use. Don't cut the eggplant into very thick slices. The thicker your eggplant slices, the more oil you have to use when panfrying them.

I've broken with tradition. Normally on a Monday night I watch zombie movies. Tonight I'm daringly watching Battle Royale.

Um. Bollocks - it avoided being mentioned on the final of University Challenge earlier as part of an answer relating to the Sex Pistols. Between the Privy Council staff and Romantic Novelists. What the fuck is going on?

TM- I'm seriously leaning tward the Deutschland idea meself...

Nah, TK's not a zombie. He always has a sensayuma. Cookie Monster, maybe...

I feel sorry for TK these days. Now everyone's discovered Takashi Miike he seems awfully tame... (I have two episodes of MPD-Psycho left to watch... I'm hoping I'll figure out what's going on by the end, but I reckon it's unlikely... again, aFTVT thread when I'm not so hammered).

Fudge drat damn.
Long queues at the petrol stations. Is this the 21st century? Maybe I should stay awake and go in a few hours...

I now want to go to Vancouver.
Zombies, Brains. Anyone know any ghost stories?
How's life treating everyone?

Life is treating me like a rolling stone. I think. At least, I feel old and wrinkly sometimes, but at least I don't have to play in a band with Sir Mick Jagger.

I don't think I know any ghost stories that I could tell right off, sorry.

Oh yeah, Sir Mick Jagger. He's a knight and Bob Dylan makes "Victoria's Secret" commercials. No more heroes anymore?

I'm starting to notice wrinkles, now I've hit the badlands known as the Thirties.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
22:53 / 12.09.05
What ever happened to The Stranglers for that matter?

Did Bob Dylan make adverts? Doesn't surprise me, I suppose. Seems like an odd choice of company to represent...

I'm hitting 34 in November. I figure that means I'm older that Jesus, Bill Hicks, AND David Koresh. Fun for all. An "older than Jesus" party will happen in some form or other.

Whoah. I must be getting old. I've hit the part of the night where I'm all like "no more beer". Believe you me, that's weird.

Mon Oncle Ignatius
22:57 / 12.09.05
So does everyone at the party have to be older than JC & co? Or just dress as someone who made it past 33 in one piece?

Who needs beer anyway?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
22:59 / 12.09.05
I was fairly tempted to get everyone to dress as someone famous who didn't make it that far... after a couple of really tasteless suggestions (and remember my taste threshold is fairly low) I decided it needed a rethink... it has yet to be thunk.

Mon Oncle Ignatius

So I've been watching "Soldier Blue", a film I've not seen in a long time. When I first watched it, the movie seemed fairly radical for a US-made Western, with Vietnam parallels being drawn and so on. Now what I notice mostly is the post-Bonanza bombastic music which swell up a moments of high drama, and it seems really incongruous.
