STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK

Keggers- it's DEFINITELY a movie worth buying.
I've watched it straight, drunk, stoned, speeding, tripping... and (this is totally the way to get into Lynch movies for me) having drunk WAY too much cough syrup...

It's a wonderful puzzle. Most movies, you have a couple of hours of fun. I've been trying to unravel this one for YEARS. Mulholland Drive's a piece of piss in comparison!

Sounds alot like "Dude Where's my Car?"!, Just layers upon layers of meaning and mystery. It's enough to make me want to write a doctorate on it and get a nobel prize or something. Wow.. Mind blowing. Its like, a dude, and HE CANT FIND HIS CAR!!! How F'ed up is that!?

Jake, Colossus of Clout

Sub- That is telling.

Stoatie- You didn't think Mulholland Drive was any good? I quite enjoyed it, as I recall. Course I did only see it once and was at least three years ago.

Dude- a guy at work last week had a go at me when I said The Goonies was a bit poo.... "How DARE you diss my favourite Lacanian narrative" he said...
'twas quite weird.

sub- I loved Mulholland Drive. Not quite so baffling... but a fucking wicked film. I LOVED it. It's probably his best movie. Lost Highway is still the best puzzle, though!

Now the Goonies I could write a essay on. It's dripping with puberty metaphors.

Proinsias

I was hugely entertained by Mulholland Drive - not the movie mind you but the people explaining what it was actualy about for hours on end only for Lynch to appear and say that it meant f**k all.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

Hey, I like the Goonies personally, but not because of any subtext, just cuz it's fun fun fun, and it's a fond childhood memory.

Sorry... said "sub", meant "Jake".
I'm a pisshead. And I'm pissed. Sorry!

Oh, totally Jake. It's a fucking great adventure movie. Many fond memories.

They don't make 'em like that any more.

They make 'em different.

Greetings, sirs and madams!

I like the Goonies, and I derive way too much amusement from 'One-Eyed Willy.'

"Thank you, Mr. Willy. You've made my day."

Priceless.

Saint Keggers

The Goonies had pirates. Any movie with pirates is good.

iamus
02:07 / 18.08.05
One-Eyed Willy is just one of many metaphors.

Don't get me started, I'd be here all night and it's already four o'clock.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

Stoatie- No problem... Not too too familiar with Lynch, but I'm quite partial to Eraserhead.

Mel- So true- Goonies was equally fun for kids and adults. The only recent movie with similar appeal, I think, is The Incredibles, which should have won Best Picture last year.

Watching the Daily Show now- it's very good, for any US Barbeloids interested- I assume it's not available in the UK?

Mulholland Drive was basically a very simple story, told in a fucking obtuse way, really...

I guess it comes down to whether you like Lynch or not. I love him for his dream/nightmare logic. It's not sensible, actually-making-sense logic... but it's the shit that happens when you're dreaming-type logic. It's ace...

Cheers Keggers
I'm thinking hard but give a couple of weeks and I'll 'ave tracked down a crappy pirate movie you mark my words

iamus

Cutthroat Island.

Saint Keggers
02:10 / 18.08.05
Im trying to recall if "Ice Pirates" was any good.

Jake, Colossus of Clout

Crappy pirate movie? Never! I love 'em all. Who's seen Captain Blood? That movie's ace.

iamus
02:11 / 18.08.05
But Cutthroat island was still waaaay better than Seppuku Mainland.

Proinsias
02:13 / 18.08.05
Personally I though Cutthroat was a failry entertaining movie
- didn't quite understand the media backlash. Although maybe I'm not in touch these days, I hear Titanic won oscars?

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
02:15 / 18.08.05
How much money would I have to give David Lynch to make a pirate move?

Cos that would be, like, the best thing ever.

Saint Keggers

With Jim Henson muppets!

You loved it and you know it

P. Horus Rhacoid
02:27 / 18.08.05
Night, Proinsias.

To swing back to Goonies for a moment, did anybody else laugh out loud during Return of the King when they noticed that the super-bad pink evil deformed orc general dude looked like Sloth?

Saint Keggers
02:28 / 18.08.05
G'night Proin & Mel!
