About the '777'...bit weird, I ended up with it blurring between Oceanic 777 and Oceanic 815, and the little cut-away of the plane turned into a cutesy graphic of a much older looking plane, then back again...

And, very briefly, it flashed up 'www.oceanic815.com'

Which turns out to be the unofficial forum...

Oh yes - 25 episodes consists of Lost season 1...

Haha! I emailed dr Jack Shephard at St MArtins hospital and got this 'Out of Office' reply :

Hi,

I am currently on holiday in Sydney.
I expect to be back on duty on Monday, August 15.

In my absence, please contact Dr Ruddin or Dr Melfort on extension -3298 and -0815 respectively.

Regards

Jack Shephard

...

His Dad was called 'Christian Shephard' (!)

it's worth noting that the this oceanic website wasn't around initially when we were watching the original airing of Lost in the US... so you may be encountering some spoilers as a result of that.

there is a Driveshaft website out there, too.

Hmmm

Just found two books in the bookshelf with the unidentified dude and the drink talking to the small boy...

this one

and

this one

the second of which you can 'take a look inside' on Amazon...

Hovering over the lamp in that scene causes 5 aircraft to appear and disappear...

Keith - I think it's all supposed to work together to broaden the whole thing for geeks, really. I guess it will keep pace with the show, revealing more as we get further into it...

Loving the little flashes of the character's pasts/futures in the oceanic site...

Just found the French for 'Dimension Mosquitoes' on that map thingy!!

And

'Along the gulfs clear'

Oh, and www.oceanicflight815.com is the official forum...

Lots of spoiler in there, as it's obviously catered to the US version, so watch out if you go there.

What's with all the Alice in Wonderland references on the website? Black and white pills which take you to different places, white rabbits...it's a rip-off of Donnie Darko meets The Matrix...

See, now you're asking for spoilers...

They're not pills - they're ******.

And that rabbit? Dunno.

H1ppychick - you are aware of the irony of claiming that anything is guilty of ripping off The Matrix, right?

The oceanic website has some teasers for the second series, but nothing spoilerific...

h1ppychick
17:48 / 15.08.05
Yes, I know The Matrix is not exactly original.

Uh, yeah, that site is a total spoiler. However, from what I recall and the descriptions here the spoilers shouldn't make any sense until you see the corresponding episodes.

This thread really isn't doing so well on the non-spoiler front is it?

I'll just confirm here that "Jack's" tattoo is the actors and not the charactors. However, the tattoo on "Charlie's" left shoulder (the right shoulder being his LOTR tat) is purely for the character. It reads living is easy with eyes closed.

Well, the website is there for any and all to see, on the channel 4 site, so it's readily available clue-stuff, isn't it?

It's up to the people behind the Channel 4 website as to whether they want to provide spoilers for the show there, and it's up to individual people whether they want to risk reading that site as a result. However, this thread now contains spoilers for the TV show, by any reasonable definition - I wish I didn't yet know what I now know about Jack, as I'm sure the show will get round to it eventually. I'm not sure I can be bothered to have a discussion about it, after the Dr Who thread, so I might just stop reading this thread.

When the things in the woods start roaring, or whatever it is they're doing, someone says "I've heard that before." or something to that effect.

I noticed, watching the second half yesterday, that the sounds are awfully familier to some of the sounds as the plane tears up mid-air. Anyone else notice that?

I hope this isn't going to be a Monsters from the Id kind of thing. Not unless Robbie the Robot turns up.

Charlie’s tattoo is a Moby lyric ? Well, I didn’t expect that.

Is it wrong that my admiring reaction is to write Driveshaft slash? I'm willing Charlie to name his fellow band members (and mention their hair colour).

Doctor/Fat guy slash (um... Jack/Hurley? Why is everyone called Jack these days?)! It is the One True Pairing!

Anyway, I am completely overjoyed and delighted by everything about Lost except that it clashes with the fucking L-Word (the only other thing I watch on TV). Hence, I am having to watch it on E4 on Sundays and will be permanently one episode ahead of this thread and too confused about what happened in what episode to post here for fear of spoilers.

Or Living TV +1, if you have it.

16:53 / 16.08.05
But the Monday night one doesn't finish till 1am, so we end up taping it and not watching it till Tuesday, which puts us a week behind and makes us grumpy. Living TV +1 is a genius idea, though, if I can just find it on the NTL box of annoyingness...

ETA: It's 922. Because 111 + 1 = 922, if you are NTL.

Yeah, the rain seems to start and stop a bit too suddenly. It did that when they were running from the monster after finding the cockpit too.

Phex: Dorset Doom

Just finished watching tonight's episode. They're taking the whole thing pretty slow aren't they? I understand that they probably want to highlight everybody in turn (except for Jack Everyman or whatever the doctor's called) but I think they need to be pushing the narrative a little harder, and seeing as they're all out of food and potable water they'll need to get started with a better system than "Kill the pig! Bash it's head!"

(FYI: I was once Piggy in a secondary-school production of Lord of the Flies. I'm not even all that fat.)

Can we just create a (I know unprecedented) 3rd and/or possibly 4th thread for E4 and Irish coverage, to go with the existing terrestrial UK and US thread?
