Hayden seems to have decided to play a test opener's innings for a change, which is the right thing for him to be doing.
Indeed. Michael Atherton has just made the point that H may, in his mind, be playing for his place in the Australian team. If the Aussies lose the Ashes, pressure's for change is going to be enormous and he hasn't really justified his place thus far.
Hayden looks, as A noted, like he's stopped worrying about Langer scoring more runs than him and remembered that he's part of an opening partnership.
On the light/rain issue, I concur with the C4 crew in thinking that it's a slightly odd decision on Australia's part to come off at the first invitation. Why not, from a pretty stable position, carry on and grab a few more overs. Just putting themselves under unneccessary pressure, IMO, having wasted an 1 1/2 hours of a match they have to win. |
