Foxes are a bit suspicious of humans, but if you left food out for them in an area where you'd seen them and hid in a corner, they'd probably get to it eventually.

Or you'd be arrested or something. Well, okay, maybe somewhere that you can watch from a window.

There's a pissload of foxes here (the official term) in Brixton.

That's sounds like a good idea. I usually see them, then they run off, but what I could do is leave the food (so that the fox watches me bend down and put it on the ground) and then go back later to see if it got it or something. I get the feeling that it would take a while for a fox to go and check it out and if I stuck around I'd probably freeze or something.

Anyhow, I'm off to bed. Peace all and thanks again for the help, patience and advice.

X - I really don't think you have to do anything as such, except relax for a bit, and perhaps concentrate more on physical activity, as opposed to the brane alternative. Which isn't to say, for a sec, that I'm suggesting you join a health club or anything, there are decent standards that have to be maintained after all, but an idea might be, having said that, to possibly see about putting some money together ( I think I speak for pretty much everyone here when I say I'm sure you could do it, you'd need a few hundred quid, ) and then getting out of the country for a while. As long as you don't mind slumming it for a couple of months ( and if you're okay about picking oranges etc you'd need a lot less cash and could stay abroad for longer, ) you'd be amazed by what you can get away with in terms of not spending anything. And you'd have the sun on your back, no vids, no telly, no internet connection etc, and mainly, and importantly, hopefully, you'd most of the time just enjoy yourself really. Which, to be totally honest, and without any pretensions to being a spiritual master, or anything like that, is what I'm sure my personal pals George M and Aleister Crowley ( Gone, but not gone ) would also prescribe.

If you want to send me a PM about this I will reply - In the meantime, I'm hopefully not treading on Haus' toes when I say, avoid, for the meantime, The Golden Bough.

Blimey.

I now love this thread. it's going in my ace Barbelith thread collection.

P.S. Flight of Dragons is right. Getting out of the country for a while is ace. I have some ideas about where you can go - you could go and help my friend clean up Krabi in Thailand, or my other friend in Phuket...

These are good things.

Not to get back on topic, but given that we have no 'sent mail' box I am quite certain that I have failed to reply to PMs in the past, for no more sinister reason than that I thought I had replied.

When I've not received replies, I've sent another PM or two, in case the person in question also meant to reply but forgot. Still no response and I just stop PMing, since the PIQ has given me reasonable grounds to assume that my PMs are unwelcome.

It does sort of hurt my feelings when it happens to me, but I am more inclined to shrug than to do whatever it was you said you were going to do -- death something.

Not too sure why a number of folks have given you the old 'why do you care, it's only the internet' treatment. If you didn't care, why would you be here?

The thing about PM's is, sometimes there's no point in replying.

Otherwise you're there in that 'thank you, no thank YOU!' eternal cycle. Someone eventually has to not reply and I really don't think it's personal unless you've asked a specific question.

I mean if I sent someone a PM which asked a direct question and I got no reply, I'd take it personally probably...wait...I have and I did...but general comment ones are just sent for the sender aren't they?

Also, some people aren't that big on PM's. PM means Personal Message and this is an internet message board. Some people don't want to get personal.

Me? I'm garrulous so that's why the 705 but not everyone is. And neither should you expect them to be.

wierdly they stop at a distance and just look at me

See, X, that's NOT weird at all. It's just cool. Foxes, like dogs, and (imho) most animals will be suspicious but curious, as long as you don't freak them out. It's actually fairly easy to gain their trust once you've managed the "not freaking them out" bit. It takes patience, and a lot of being still, fairly quiet and looking like a twat to anyone passing by...

I try to make friends with every animal I see in the city. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Try it. Be still and quiet. (Yeah, I know I'm not the best advert for that myself, but it IS always worth the effort).

This is all very well Stoat, but when was the last time a fox did anything for you ? I've sat around the defending the bloody things at parties I used to go when I was very young, since about 1641 ( though I was old even then, ) and where the fuck was the fox cavalry, I remember wondering, when they burned me that time ? I mean I had ordered them - they could have come racing over the hillside, an army of foxes, but did they show up, did they fuck, and it was all a bit painful, at the time, TBH. So this time round I'm trusting to rats, and I'd advise all sensible people to do the same, godddamn.

Olulabelle, Alex, what you said sounded good, but I have to sort stuff at home right now. I have the feeling that if I left for a while instead of staying put and facing this lot I'd just go mad.

I had 189* messages, then I had to delete EVERY ONE OF THEM because I'd left myself logged in at work on someone's computer just before I went on holiday.

Now, I finished re-reading Cosmic Trigger last night and guess how many messages I had?

23.

Fuck. Off.

(* not all of them where polite.)

Calling himself the Squirrel King, he's built himself a battlesuit with powers surrounding a squirrel theme, and has collected over 100 of what he calls "CyberSquirrels," with his army ever growing.

Google cannot find a picture of an armoured squirrel. That's so sad.

It led me back, even.

Right, I have to wrap this shit up. Ganesh is right you know. Always listen to the 'nesh. It's not all about 'me', and I sometimes wonder whether or not I subconsciously make half of these things to be 'wahey!' crazy or just for attention. That's the worst thing about losing the plot like this, you nevar know exactly what the cause is, and in being brutally honest with yourself (always the best way, obviously. Who can shoot you down if they can only help you peel away the falseness?) you end up at some horrible, and sobering places.

Anyone who's PM'd me, I will get back to you. Thanks for the Squirrel pic too Mordant, it's good to see Squirrels going to the bright place.
