Basically that. I got woken up at various points early this morning with Biscuits being sick... then I took her for a walk, and she kept on throwing up. About an hour ago, I looked up from the phone to see a little pool of blood on my bedroom floor. I rushed her up to the vet, and while I was waiting to be seen she shat a bunch more blood on the waiting-room floor. The vet (being a nice man) decided to see her immediately rather than have me make an appointment even though he was fully booked for the day. (I think the fact that she was bleeding on his floor and I was pretty fucking close to tears may have swayed his decision somewhat.)
Her weight's fine, all external signs seem fine, she doesn't seem to be ACTING ill... he's hoping it's gastroenteritis caused by something she ate, but hasn't ruled out pancreitis or various other scary-sounding conditions, although at least he's fairly certain it's not cancer.
He put her on one of those manual drip things for a while to stop her getting dehydrated, and injected her with some other stuff.
If she's not better by tomorrow morning, he reckons she's gonna have to go to hospital, with a proper drip and everything, which would be horrible both for her and for me.
So if anyone's got any nice healing-type thoughts they want to send to North London, they'd be much appreciated. Meanwhile, I'm totally freaking out and trying to move house at the same time (which is freaking the dog out as well- she hates moving). |
