Everton will sell Rooney, I think. They can't afford to pay him what some clubs will, he is going to get frustrated in a mediocre team, and David Moyes, I suspect, will be quite happy to swap the hassle of answering questions about Rooney (who, est we forget, only scored 9 goals last season) every post-match for being able to bring in 5 or 6 good players to create a side less reliant on Rooney being fit and in form. He is a talented coach and promising manager who probably doesn't want to have to deal with the responsibility.
Chelsea, however, are probably the only English club, and possibly the only *club*, that will be able to afford him. If Everton get a chance to sell at the top of the market, they'll probably jump at it, while making noises about how they object to the sale. They'll accuse Rooney of disloyalty, he them of dishonesty, and Bob's your uncle. |
