But what did you do about your broken toe?! I fear for the poor useless hunk.

halloo!

Just watched Kill Bill 2 this evening- marvellously silly; I loved it. I'm now inspired to go and buy the new edition DVD of "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly"... (although I just spent seventy quid I really couldn't afford on ANOTHER Throbbing Gristle box set- only 10 CDs this time, though.) And I've been playing Manhunt... but the extreme and sordid violence started doing my head in (there's only so many times in an evening you can suffocate someone with a plastic bag before you start feeling like a very bad person).

Hmm... what will tomorrow bring? Today was cool... had a meeting this morning with some guys I'm supposed to be doing a comic with... that seemed productive. Then bought TG+ (oh industrial joy!). Then got a call from one of my best mates who I haven't seen in a couple of weeks, so went out for beer and food with him, then a couple of hours' sleep, then movie! A good day.

Tomorrow's alcohol counselling day (always have mixed feelings about that) but I get to feel like I'm actually doing something sensible for once.

Have I mentioned cheese yet?

How about pie?

God, that took so long to write, I totally missed the broken toe stuff! Sounds nasty... I thought I was badly off having a hideous cut on my wrist from trying to open dog food while drunk a couple of nights ago...

Stoatie! I just watched KB vol. 1 again, and I really enjoyed it! I didn't even like it that much in the cinema. Then I suddenly felt an urge that I'd like it now, promptly went and bought it and have now watched it twice! I haven't even seen the second one, yet, so I'm looking foward to the weekend fun! Yeah! I can't believe I didn't like it before.

Tell us more about this comic project!

Well, like you say, nothing much to be done about a broken toe. Or if there is, I didn’t bother to find out. I limped around and felt sorry for myself for a bit, and figured it jolly well served me right.

Which doesn’t help you, I’m afraid. Umm...drink plenty of water. Always a good idea.

Hellooooo Stoatie.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!

Ah, it's alright BH! I just feel like I need to take ACTION! But really it's not so bad.

Well as long as you've learned your lesson, man.

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!
00:44 / 29.04.04
I can't even remember what happened! There are no lessons to be learned, here. I broke my toe for the good of us all! Maybe.

Bed Head
00:48 / 29.04.04
Dude, the lesson is to keep your eyes on your toes, if you don’t want to inadvertently break them again.

Luckily for you, all that stuff’s about due to come back into fashion, so watch your toes closely and you’ll be the coolest kid on your block. As you listen to Slowdive. And Chapterhouse. And Lush.

simpathy towards the toe, whatever the hell that means. 'evening, boys and girls!

Suedey! SHOT FOR MEAT!

That's dangerous! If I watch my toes too much I will continually walk in to lamp posts!

"Lamp post" used to be a nickname of mine at college. Strange but true. Another one was "car John". Interesting, eh?

Ah, the comic thing! A horror anthology which we hope to have done 'n' dusted by October, so we can jump the Halloween bandwagon.

Mine's gonna be a short story based on a script me and one of the guys were working on which we realised a long time ago wouldn't work because (without spoilers) issue 3 wouldn't have worked unless the first two issues were as tediously generic as humanly possible, in which case why would anyone keep reading that long? On a whim of the guy doing the art, the main character looks like Richard Beckinsale... he's also got me to introduce a main bad guy (which I didn't initially want) just so he can look like Leonard Rossiter (although I don't think he'll appear in the 8-pager).. it's therefore called "Rising Vamp".

Fingers crossed, we'll all keep our shit together enough to actually get this going, cos I think it'll rock. (Added to which the main guy behind it is way more enthusiastic and driven than the rest of us slackers- and doesn't drink or do drugs- so is thus far proving to be a good "ass-kicking" force.)

Stoatie, news of that project of yours clearly rocks, very very hard. And I’d say more but I’m off to bed now. Another night.

Pleasant dreams, all.

Oh no! I must sleep as well, and now I feel like a cop out!

Keep it up though, it sounds top! Can't wait to see it! You have expectations now, you can't let us down. We will cry.

Night all.

Is it too early to be Late?

How about if I mention cheese? How about if I sing "Don't You Want Me, Baby", but substituting the word "Dolcelatte"?

Ginger.

For the broken toe, I mean. The essential oil can be got from herbalists, aromatherapists, health-food joints and Chinese medicine shops. Dilute as directed and massage into fucked appendage. (Do NOT apply to broken skin unless you're a fan of severe pain.)

Takes down the swelling, and if there's a break it helps the bones to knit. Eating ginger is also good. Drink ginger beer, eat ginger biscuits and crystallized ginger chunks. Get some of the root, grate it, and make an infusion.

Unless you happen to be pregnant, or allergic to ginger, or summink.

Thanks Mordant! Luckily my mother is quite the herbal type, and so I have me a bottle of ginger right here.

Good job, too, my toe is fucking killing! (and I really didnt think it was that bad before).

Ah, did attempt to go see Alison Goldfrapp do a PA at Popstarz but the queue was forever, so instead we came back and went to our local 80's tunes gay bar and had a ball. Taylor Dayne, Human League, New Order, c'est la vie!

But we did get a mortgage today that we can't afford to buy a flat nearby. The vendor died last weekend which has been a slight complication but we are organising seances to continue the "give us your flat" process. Fortunately the ex boyfriend inherited and he has decided we are Prince and Dr Charming...

Too pissed to type coherently tho. I do feel the need to chat to Mazarine. It has been too long.

Hey, all. I should really be in bed now coz I've got an early start tomorrow, but instead I'm sitting up and transferring lots of pix of extinct volcanoes and orchids from my digicam to a Yahoo! photo albumen. I'm going to Tarragona in the morn, for to look at Roman things.

Hello all. I need to sleep soon, so if I fuck off without warning, I'll get my goodnights in early.

Just been to lilly's surprise birthday drinks... fun. Happy birthday lilly.

Actually, those last few sentences were a real hassle to get right... I think I should sleep now.

Good night. I love you all dearly. (Fuck, I'm definitely drunk)

It really has, I miss you, Xoc!

So are any of you drunken darlings still around?

Roman things? What be they? Disintegrating leather straps thast were once part of centurion's kilt? Eagles missing a head? SPQ banners? Amphitheatres missing a few tiers? Lurid in the costume of his forebears? I've said too much.`..

Mostly the amphitheatre one. Depends how drunk I can get Lurid.

Ah, Max, ma chère! How goes the MSc? I have been discussing starting another one with my supervisor and it seems like such a silly idea when I'd rather spend my time partying and getting unfeasibly pissed. Are you still energised and fuelling yourself effortfully forward? Maybe I could study toast in heretofore unplumbed detail?

Mourne Kransky
00:43 / 01.05.04
By Max I obviously meant Maz. Unintentionally butched you were...

Amphitheatres are fab but I've never been to a spanish one. Don't you feel the need to declaim ancient truths from the bowl?

I sem to recall an advert for online services (maybe BT) that used the amphitheatre model to show all the online tribes connecting. That was cool.

Bit distracted by Ganesh shoving his crotch into my typing arm as we groove to Outkast and debate whether we want the lyrics to Hey Ya or Groove is in the Heart by Deee Lite on our gravestones.

Well, it's the end of the semester, so I'm trying to wind things up. Lots of papers, big scary exam looming on May 10th. Still hoping that I may have gotten into the library science program at UNC, otherwise, I have to get an actual job, and no one wants that.

Perhaps you should go to divinity school, Xoc. Weren't we all calling you vicar for a while?

Mazarine
00:45 / 01.05.04
Ooh, you should start a "Lyrics of your death" thread!

Good luck with the exam, Maz/Sally. (Dammit, I still can't get used to the new suit!) And the lib. sci. thing too.

Aughh. I just spent all that time twiddling my thumbs while waiting for my pix to upload, and now I find that if I want anyone to actually look at the things I've got to email them with an invite. Weakness. I'm going to bed. In a huff.

Playio#ng Simon and Garfunb#kel now. It's a bad sign... Maudlin and sentimental. No, I think I will be never be a vicar. The Church of England's loss. I blame Audrey Hepburn and The Nun's Story for starting me on this unrequited path. Eminently suitable as I feel I would have been, I think my lifelong atheism would get in the way. Altho, if we're talking Church of England, it might not have been an irredeemable handicap.

Mazarine
01:12 / 01.05.04
Dammit, I still can't get used to the new suit!

Sorry, I got suit-stir-crazy. I mean, I've been Mazarine for... jeepers... six or seven years, I think? I just needed to be free. Night, dear!

Xoc, I think you ought to found your own church. You decide when and what day of the week we all get up and worship. (Or night of the week.) In this economy, the collection plate might be the way to go.

Must shower, back in a mo.

01:17 / 01.05.04
Well, I'm off to groove to more Outkast and surrender the machine to my Lord and Master. Means I get to control the music, if he's online. More Marlene Dietrich, Kate Bush and Shostakovich. Maybe some Steve Reich to fuck with this head.

We will have shower in the new flat! I will be sooooo clean. Mmmm, can bring dirtttttty boyz home...
