Mods, if this has been brought up previously elsewhere, please feel free to delete.

From the Beguiling mailing list.

"Just as a reminder, our Grant Morrison event for this May is in fact cancelled. Grant and his fiancĂ©’s schedules were just too hectic to make a May event work, and so we’ve tentatively rescheduled for later this summer. We wish Grant and Kristan the best on a long and happy marriage."

Congratulations!

Grant Morrison's work has brought me much joy over the last 17 years and I wish him much joy in return.

Congrats, from everything I've seen, it seems like the two of you are perfect for each other.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought Grant the marrying type. It's a rare man in his 40's who can pull off the "this is me girlfriend" bit without looky sleazy and desperate to hold onto one's youth, but he managed to do it. Perhaps he sensed that grace period, no matter how prolonged it was, was coming to an end. Or, in order to not be a completely cynical bastard, maybe it's really love. I wish them only the best.

Why is it we know more about Kristan than other comic creator's better halves? Like I don't even know her last name, but I know who she is. Can't say the same for Millar's, Ennis', or Ellis' wife.

Probably because Kristan is Morrison's public web-face. She runs his website, pops in here every so often to keep us in line, deals with his fractured and fractious public. And is, as the summary above states, lovely.

Grow old together, kids. It's great.

If you have any kids, name them after me!

They're the John and Yoko of comics!!

I'm looking forward to the reception - I presume we are all invited, right?

(Kristan's surname is (deleted), by the way)

Is anyone else just being nice on this thread so Grant Morrison will turn up and say "thanks guys you're the best", and then pm them saying "I really appreciated your comment in particular. It was strikingly written too; I envy your natural flair for prose. Maybe you'd like to collaborate sometime? Here's my mobile number, please call. xoxo"

Yeah, I knew it, you're busted innit.

I find marriage a very odd institution, and don't really see the point in supporting an institution that basically functions as a moral and financial tax break for heterosexuals, but I'm sure I'm just missing sonething important, and weddings are certainly a whole passle of fun, so all the best for the happy couple.

Comic books or Conversation, people? What do we reckon?

I'd say there remains a worldwide inequality in these matters, but of course I could be wrong. That happens. A lot.

I'd say Kovacs and Bobossboy are both about right on this one...

Nope, even within the UK you're correct: assuming the present Bill goes through, same-sex couples still won't get the same tax breaks (those of us in receipt of public sector annuations, for example, will not have them back-dated - in contrast to different-sex couples).

But hey nonny no! Why'm I being Mr GrumpyBreeches? Congratulations!
