The number one feature of interest re that new Halifax advert in our house is the girl with the curious bouffante hairdo - "Bernadette from Glasgow" - as she appears to be an extra from some lost Switchblade Sisters-style girl gang movie of the 1970s that Stewart Home or Quentin Tarantino might well have sexy dreams about. Take a closer look at her next time it's on... she looks hard as flippin' nails.

I really like the montages C4 has with various famous types answering the same specific questions. So, you get all sorts answering what makes them guilty, the best way to their heart, their first car, or their special name for their SO. I think they’re well conceived, and brilliantly produced ads – and they make me smile each time.

I agree, Jub, those are great. This is my favourite one.

I miss the Six Feet Under cast, though. Peter Krause is such a great big hippy lummox. "You know what it is? Freedom!"

Yep, love it when wasserface from The OC is asked something along the lines of; "What is the greatest invention of all time?" and replies "The Ipod!".

Of course, dear! 'Cos before we had Special Walkmen we were CRAWLING AROUND ON ALL FOURS EATING INSECTS, WEREN'T WE...

Jeez.

However; loving the current Becks ad, with the dude doing the bad thing (as in dancing) with the different animated versions of hi'self. It's original, it's got funky moozak and it's advertising beer. All good.

I can't be held back! Someone come on side to convince my girlfriend of the undeniable truth that the music from that Becks advert with the dancing men is NOT the new Flaming Lips single ('The W.A.N.D.') !!

This has been an issue in our house for several days now. Help a brother out.

Thanks for the confirmation... ehh. I was kind of hoping it wouldn't be the 'Flips at all, but my girlfriend has a much better ear for music than I.

Ooh, the new Bravia ad was apparently filmed in Glasgow the other day, according to Boing Boing. Looks like it might be very cool.

Not really loving it, but quite like the fact that Mandy McGuire left the Chatsworth estate long enough to give blood, helping out George Alagiah.

I would quite like to meet that chap whose blood saved the life of Gordon Ramstein, though. Meet and talk.

Any viewers curious about the large-haired man had their suspicions clarified when he, on the show, stated he had in fact been in an ad with Gordon Ramsay, but also stated that he had just been picked randomly at the pub, and had not actually donated any blood to Ramsay.

although he was a clear candidate for deathing, he didnt do the ramsay saving.
he was in space cadets, though.

You shouldn't judge a man by appearances, or music taste, they tell me, and yet he looks, does he not, that lad, as if he were a person whose favourite band was Toploader?

And, he's a fucking shill. He's not given blood to the sweary chef (or probably anyone), but he's taking credit for it like he did. How hard is it to find some real blood-donors, even 'quirky' ones with 'zany', 'individual' hairstyles. They should have made the actors give blood first, so they wouldn't all be liars. I'm never going to believe adverts again. I thought they liked me. Urgh, where's the hate thread??

How much money would they have to pay you to PRETEND you'd saved the wanker Ramsay's life?

Nothing if, say, you're a doctor, and you pretend to save his life in the operating theatre. I reckon the ad-shill was given his thirty pieces of silver though, becuase he is an actor and not a real person at all, breaking my trust in the tele-ad medium.

I bet it's a fucking wig too. *spits on the wig*

Be fair - it's not as if anyone walked into a blood donor clinic and explained that they would like their blood to go, solely and specifically, to the reserve kept for Gordon Ramsay.

Char Aina

it's not like you get to stipulate that it isnt going to save his life, though.

safest bet would be just not to give any blood at all.

You lot are such innocents. I've deliberately had my blood contaminated with an isotope that is harmless to everyone and everything EXCEPT Gordon Ramsey. Who it will kill, slowly and painfully.

Just in case.

I don't understand, though, with the Mitchell & Webb Mac/PC ads, why they're pushing the Mac as being more fun when it's actually rubbish for games.

I find those Mac ads to be a bit disingenuous really, as most of the Mac-fans I know are much more geeky and technoelitist than the more technologically easy-going PC owners I know. They're hardly the laid back and groovy guys the ads make them out to be. Christ, if they want to save porn, they've got to use two hands rather than the one if PC users use the right mouse button - that's got to cause more frustration just right there! Marketing - it lies.

I am completely ignoring the fact though that degrading internet filth completely fucks up that whole clean, white Mac-aesthetic they have going on there. It just doesn't go.

But GAMES!!! GAMES!!!

Yeah, I know you can play WoW on the Mac, and that renders other games irrelevant, but WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COME DOWN? EH?

Is it? I didn't know that. I'm exceedingly ignorant of Macs and was actually thinking of switching to Mac based solely on the feel-good vibe from those adverts. I'd never really even considered buying a Mac...

(mind you I play pretty much 0 games on my PC anyway unless they are small cute puzzle games like Sokoban or Tetris)

Clarks have done it again - the woman dancing along, in her red shoes, a cheeky little shuffle and hop. They make some great ads, Clarks - does anyone shop there?

Also, I must admit that I find the H&M Madonna ads to be quite funny.

The blossoming love between the ginger-haired work experience boy and his Kenyan sugar-daddy in the new Kenco advert is, well, it makes most people's lovelives look flat by comparison.

My son just reminded me of an advertisment on a telly in the cartoon called "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends"

Said in the monotone voice of a talking tuber:
Potatoes, potatoes, potatoes, potatoes. Everyone eat potatoes.

I'm a bit biased about this, because I was involved in some parts of its creation, but I rather like Prada's Thunder, Perfect Mind ad - YouTube of the full version here.

Yes, it's open to all sorts of serious accusations from feminist and gnostic standpoints, but I still rather like it and am rather proud of having been involved in it.
