In about 2 weeks i'm going to be on robot wars with my latest creation "The Fire Of Bunge". I'm pretty nervous about it and was wondering if anyone fancied coming along from The Lith?
It's free to get there, it's in London any takers?

P.S It's going to be branded with the old Barbelith, so lets go represent and kick Sir Killerlot in the arse!!

Oh Yeah also any ideas for a colour way or design that i could airbrush onto the side of my beast would be most welcomed.

You're entering Robot Wars? That is sooooo fucking cool! Damn, I wish I could go. What's your robot like? Does it have SRi-Mech?

It's going to be branded with the old Barbelith

Are you actually going to advertise the website (www etc) or just put the word up so anyone outside the loop wouldn't know what it referred to?

Just curious.

I sort of assumed that ment a picture of Barbelith, the big red blob from the comics?

That is, beyond a doubt, the coolest thing I have ever heard. Do you know what date it is? I'm going to have to be in London at some point over the next month or so.

Design for the side...? Well, what shape is The Fire of Bunge? Is it the low-lying wedge shape that always seems to triumph, or is it an enormous mobile assembly of saw blades, heavy bludgeons and a pointy stick? Give us an idea of area that's available for painting.

I have to say that the wedges always win, which is really rather annoying. Things that look like cheese should fail. Unless they are actually cheese. Aren't you allowed to fit a shotgun onto them or something?

fridge: FUCK OFF. Wedge-shaped robots are rock on toast. They make not only sound engineering sense, but have a kind of gut-level rightness matched only by iodine in salt and cross-bars on bicycles.

Cheese must always win. METAL cheese.

Mmm. Metal cheese. Metal cheese pie. A metal cheese pie robot would be the coolest thing ever.

NO. If there was justice in the world, funky cutting disc or "I have a big arm with a spike on it" designs would win, rather than boring remote-control cars with a triangle on top of them.

Ah, yes. The traditional meaning of the word 'justice', whereby things that do not work, should not work and cannot possibly work, when being proven not to work, are held up as manifest examples of why the world does not work (Cf half my previous relationships and any multilateral diplomatic approach that attempts to involve the USA).

Does this mean it's going to be on the telly?

Fantastic.

That's awesome -- I got a book on that once, and it's a lot of work!

Congratulations. If you feel like putting up specs, I'd be really interested.

It is simplicity itself to defeat wedge-form robots, my good fridge, you just have to apply a bit of lateral thinking. The enemy robot is not really the problem, the enemy pilot is the problem. Why spend so much time and energy on a big spike that will not work, when you can invest in a small, eyeball-evaporating laser, or toxic fumes, or EMPs, or... well, the possibilities are bounded only by your imagination. Ear-shredding sirens, maybe.

Good luck, Boyce!

Does Phillipa Forrester still present that? I like her.

Nup. It's Jayne Middlemiss these days. Still Craig Charles, though, and it's now on Channel 5 so I can't get it. Never mind. Not really worth it without Philippa.

If only Gladiators was still on. I'd be so proud to have all the 'lithers waving giant hands at me to the tones of 'We Will Rock You' while Shadow pummeled me into paste with his pugil stick.
