So yeah, this is a decent place to put this.

Written by Grant Morrison, cover and pencils by Marc Silvestri.

"Here Comes Tomorrow," pt. 3 (of 4). Continuing the biggest comics event of 2004. Xavier's dream stays alive as the X-Men of tomorrow make final preparations for a final showdown with ... the Beast!?

Cah-razy!

Beautiful! Thanks for posting this, and for being so fast on the draw! (these solicits just went up, I think)

At first I was like "who the fuck is this?!?!" And then....ohhh, of course! He's all white-haired with age! Ahh, Hank McCoy...

Holy fuck.

Planet X spoiler????

HAHAHAHA EAT IT FLUX

Not that I completely think that's OUR Beast, (misdirection) but did I not suggest MONTHS AGO that Beast might potentially be a baddie? This is hilarious. (just kiddin' ya'll)

Oh, but I thought Beast wasn't important enough in NXM to be of any consequence to the final story...? (SARCASTIC AS HELL)

Is he a baddy? Maybe he's just moody.

Well from what we've already seen of this arc 'the Beast' (N.B. it doesn't say Beast) is in league with the U-Men.

It's beautiful.

But it looks like a Thundercat.

Quireboy
10:23 / 25.11.03
But then Hank has certainly protested his innocence - perhaps a little too much - in NXM.

Evil beast, eh.

On the "Beast isn't important enough to feature as a major player in the final arc" thing. Weren't people arguing that he wouldn't die? That the death of Beast, in the current X Men arc, would be anti-climactic and we would do better to look to the major players?

About evil Beast. We can be pretty sure, then, that Morrison is taking his cues from arcs like Age of Apocalypse. Methinks we could be in for a crazy action convolutofest.

He's wearing a purple cloak. Does this mean that Magneto was secretly Beast, all along???

Matthew Fluxington

I don't get why we're all jumping to the conclusion that this Beast is evil just because Silvestri drew him a bit scary looking. Silvestri always draws his good guys a little scary looking.

And my argument was always that there was no way Beast was ever getting killed off in New X-Men.

Er, maybe 'cause of this?

We've forgotten that little tag line that's been floating around about this arc..."what's good is bad and what's bad is good" or something like that.

I think we're going to see a somewhat victorious Magneto at the end of Planet X. Perhaps then the "X-Men" of the future are Magneto's acolytes, trained at the usurped Xavier Institute. The rag-tag bunch trying to oppose Magneto's making of the world (including Beast) are either the X-Men themselves, or followers of the Xavier side of the philosophical spectrum. But they are now, (or is it 'then'?) essentially the 'bad guys.' If that's the case, Morrison succeeds in playing with opposites again AND brings the X-Men back to the outlaw status that made the Outback Years so great.

Maybe Morrison hasn't forgotten about the "Dark Beast" that was around during Mark Waid's very very short X-Men run - wasn't this Dark Beast a leftover from the Age of Apocalypse or something like that?

Incidentally, I don't really expect Morrison and the New Marvel would use ANYTHING from "The Age of Apocalypse" - just bringing it up for fun, really.

NO, no, no! Now HERE's a revelation!

Come on, get with it... turns out, Beast has really been APOCALYPSE for the entire Morrison run. DARK APOCALYPSE, which is worse than regualr apocalypse (mind the captialization!), dontch know?

So called "Dark Beast" = Shizo x 1000000, however I like that Beast is evil in the future (supposedly) cause he has really been the heart of the team up until now, and the irony of that opposition is pretty cool.

He's become quite literally the Beast of Revalations. #151 is filled with Revalations symbolisim and the like.

You know, it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that En Sabah Nur snuck up on Hank, Scott-Style.

Quimper, it doesn't look like Magneto will be victorious though - his revolution looks like it's set to implode. That's not to say that his philosophy might not become more dominant, especially if the poles are reversed and a huge proportion of humanity swiftly dies.

I'm bumping this up because some folks were saying that they couldn't find it, and it is going to be released within a few weeks.

The stuff above this post would support a pretty fair argument as to why we shouldn't start shooting off the speculation three or four issues ahead of time.

Thanks, Flux. I did a search for "153" in headings & I didn't come up - I figured that would narrow it down more than "New X-Men" would in my search - but glad you found it.

Definitely feeling the Fantomex = Apollyn vibe now.

530 million years ago? Tell us already!

Nice... "Bumbleboy"? The name "Tenids" reminds me of the old sci-fi film "Day of the Triffids."

So maybe it really is Apocalypse. I dunno... there's talk about the Crown/Kether/White room again, tho'.

I think we're going to see a retcon of En Sabah Nur/Apocalypse. En Sabah Nur is a the anti-Phoenix, a primordial force of nature which CONTROLS evolution into conformity, while the Phoenix allows chaos and nature to let it do its thing, burning away only that which cannot evolve. Very Invisibles Universe A and Universe B. The force probably attached itself to the egyptian mutant Apocalypse and tried to control change through him.

Climbing ever higher along the Great Chain... I don't think it's Fantomex. I do think that Sublime is Life. I don't think Sublime is Apocalypse, I think Apocalypse was Sublime. I don't think Phoenix is the "opposite" of Sublime. I think she's just his next and necessary transformation. I think 530 million years ago, "control" wasn't the same idea that it is now. I think the white hot room is Kether, but I think it's the Guf too. I think the Termids are cool. I think the Sublime Beast is a good guy again. I think we should remember that everybody that's "bad" is Good and that everybody that's "good" is Bad. I think there SHOULD be two more preview pages soon...

Panafrikan termids reminded me a lot of the giant shitting fleas outside of the Invisible College. Beast/Sublime/Apocalypse/John-A-Dreams/You/Me seems to be fascinated with those damn brain buggers and I think Appollyon is Scott and not Fantomex. Wasn't Scott the only one who shared a psychic link with Jean(gene)? Fantomex rejected her psychic probbings before...

Quimper
23:10 / 11.02.04
It IS interesting that Apollyon wants the Jean/Phoenix mind grafted to his in order to feel complete. So, I can see him being Scott. But I still think its Fantomex.

makeitbleed
00:39 / 12.02.04
Fantomex, if alive at this point, is still missing his 2nd nervous system (the now shapely E.V.A.). Perhaps having his brain grafted to Phoenix would replace what he lost 150 years ago ...
