Do we even need to bet? It's got to be Jean. And Jean won't really die.

We don't need to. But it might be fun.

Other than that, I agree.

Oh man!!!! 48 pages!!! I can't wait for this!!! Hey,,,was it some one on this board that was saying Phil's art was very Neal Adams/romantic looking this time out?? cause I agree and I think it works!

By 'dies', do we mean 'surreptitiously moves to China, puts on a metal hood and waits for everyone to arrive'? Or don't we?

Nice to see that morphing into an all-powerful planet-eating cosmic force of annihilation apparently doesn't bestow the ability to pluck one's eyebrows symmetrically...

Holy crap!! Where did you find this cover?? I didn't see it in the new Marvel solicits!! Great cover!

And yes, that was me who said Jimenez was channeling a Neal Adams vibe, particulary in the inks - but then I realized Jimenez isn't inking himself on the book, it's Andy Lanning. However, Lanning has been Jimenez' regular inker for a while now, so maybe Jimenez directed Lanning to do the more Adams-style finishes. Who knows?

I bet on Emma to bite it. Remember her line that she had a feeling her life was approaching some terrible closure?

Although like Grant has said, no one really dies in X-Men, they just change.

Really looking forward to each and every remaining issue of Grant's NXM.

The burning city looks like the one in the vision of the Phoenix in NXM128.

If I was betting I'd say Jean dies then becomes a goddess as Morrison has implied.

But in NXM128 one of the fallen X-Men looked very dead - no eyes in his sockets.

We know Wolverine's not the casualty as he's in the final arc.

I agree, I think Jean will be the "death", which will lead to her goddess transformation as has been previously stated by Morry.

That cover is sexxxy x 1000000, honestly... woulda been cool if they got Quitely to do a variant cover, kind of a send off for the guy who started it all artistically, u know...? Too bad, but definetly an amazing cover.

Wolverine may be perched in Jean's cleavage, but I don't think he's quite touching her tits with his claws...

We do indeed. I believe that this will now become the Marvel standard for every character that "dies". Prepare yourself for...She-Xorn!

I hate it when people draw Wolverines claws longer than his forearms.

And for Spyder's 300th post:

Um.... Wait. Issue 146 just came out. Why are we talking about 150 already? What happened to numbers 147-149? Can't we all be just a tad patient? Jesus Tap-dancing Christ!
On a side note, I'm with Bio K9. If his claws are longer then his forearm, how does he bend his wrists?

Nah, its his elbows he can't bend. The claws should stop where those marshmallows are. Which brings up another point: how cool is for Wolverine to be toasting marshmallows in the Phoenix flame?

I haven't read 146. I just made the mistake of reading the solicitation for 150. So much for that story surprise then! Stupid me! Stupid me! Stupid me!

It won't be Jean dying.

It'll be Phoenix.

Nuff said.

Nah, it'll be Magneto. Again. But then Arcade or someone will transfer his soul into a superhuman body made of unkillable flesh substitute.

And he'll change his name to Quorn.

Anyone seen the cover for NXM147 - I notice it has been removed from the Marvel website - even the google cache search doesn't bring it up.

The cover to #147 hasn't been released yet, in ANY previews.

The Beast cover is the cover to #148, due in October.

Hmmmmmmm.....
An X-Man is going to die. Big deal. There are about three hundred of the buggers. And all the one's with good deaths come back. Of course, the shitty deaths (*cough* Colossus!*cough*) always stay dead...

Rawk'n'Roll

Actually GM said someone would die in 150 AGES ago... I remember speculating on who it would be.
The good money was on Jean or Xavier.
Jean because GM may just do what Chris Claremont did all those years ago, only now hopefully it'll be premanent. Jean shouldn't have ever re-appeared. He may very well retcon the retcon. Nice

Xavier because he would have made a beautiful bookend martyr with Magneto. Then the theory behind the men could battle it out with a new generation of mutants. Alas Mag's isn't as dead as we thought so... could Charles just be a martyr by himself? Would he go down the same route as Mags and 'fake' his own death?

Spyder Todd 2008

Maybe he'd pretend to be a member of Magneto's Broherhood named "Wheels".

Mike-O
22:45 / 23.09.03
Magneto's a good bet to get taken out... I'd like to see him and Charles die now, as I don't think anyone could write Xavier as well as GM does...

And true, Morrison DID say, like, a year and a half ago, that in 150 major shiat would go down, and someone would die. Wouldn't have guessed Magnus then, would ya??

I don't recall ANYONE apart from Johnny seeing that #147 cover yet, but Johnny, I'm real interested in knowing what was on it - can you share that with us please?

I'm not so sure that Jean will die in any sense this issue after reading the CBR interview with Grant. We know Logan's still alive in the future arc. And Morrison says that Scott has to chose between Emma and Jean in 151 and finally 154, suggesting they're both still alive. Plus if the next arc continues to explore the nature of the Phoenix force and the responsibilities of those who weild it that suggests Jean has become a goddess of sorts. So far there's no mention of Charles or Hank, however. So unless Grant is being perverse and counting Xorn/Magneto as an X-Man one of them may be due for the chop.

Pure speculation but some heroic sacrifice by Beast might push Beak into rebelling against Magneto.

Rawk'n'Roll
10:42 / 27.09.03
Issue 151 Scott chooses Emma over Jean as Jean has become the Phoenix and is no longer fully human.

Issue 154 Scott realises the error of his ways and convinces the now slightly deranged Jean/Phoenix to spare the universe, to sacrifice her powers and become human again.

Thereby leaving the entire team as they were.

Dude, Beast is totally not going to die.

Quireboy

You know as much as anyone of us Flux - perhaps you'd like me to repost some of the way off speculation you've posted on these boards over the past few months?

No mention of Xvier or beast in the future arc and the pitch for 150 says an X-man will die.

So it's either that Jean 'dies' and is reborn (but it's been done before).

Magneto dies - and as he was Xorn counts as an X-man.

Or it's Xavier or Hank.

Believe me.
