ONLY NICE THINGS

Yeah - Victoria station was like 28 Days Later, but got a bus to the centre and waited it out, then had absurdly good train karma home. Although the needle was starting to come out - as I got off a bloke was getting barracked(entirely fairly) for hassling a woman about having her backpack on and jostling him (dude had about 4 feet of space he could have moved into).

Does anyone know what caused it yet?

BBC News 24 says they haven't got a clue.

Power goes out in both U.S. and U.K. and no-one knows why. Most of you who had problems sound like pampered bitchy tech addicts. We as a society lived for thousands of years with none of this so if you couldn't find your way out of the dark, curl up in a corner cry and then go die. All those who found a way to see the beauty and unity in it all, I thank and applaud you. We should do it more often, just to see how we handle ourselves in case...or maybe that is really why it happened. Bush and Blair still suck my arse for it all. Blame Canada.

Yes because we know Bush and Blair are responsible for a system thats been in place for over 30 years. Damn them and their amazing powers of time travel.

Blame Canada! Oh yeaH...I see someone got his jingos from Bigger Longer and Uncut

Er no, that was a different society, one where living 10 miles from anything was an impossibility and we all had fireplaces and wells. These days, we are as "addicted" to electrical technology as we are "addicted" to literacy.

Frankly sweetheart I don't think anyone here wants your patronising applause. People deal with things in different ways and anyone who freaks out because they get stuck down the tube or waiting in a station for bloody hours should be allowed to.

Sweetheart?, Darling? Has everyone turned into Frank Butcher all of a sudden?

The power was fine here in Vauxhall so it must have been the real South that was affected, but then that doesn't explain the tubes.

Still think it was a test for possible terrorist attack, the tube staff sound like they were much more on the ball than they usually are...

That makes a great deal of sense. I'm not so sure about the states but here I got the feeling that that might have been a fire drill so that the authorities could observe what happened and various institutions would perceive the need for back up generator etc. Also perhaps as a by product geting people used to some of the weird shit to come when things get a little less predictable....

The energy issues are the main issues under the eyes of corporate goons. That also may be it. It was a fire drill. Otherwise we would probably know why it happened, and we still don't. So many damn questions and not a clear answer in sight. Why did we go to war? Why did the twin towers fall? Where is Sadam? Who killed the Iraq cleric? Why did the power go out? It just seems that if you can't get the answers in an information age we must be blind. They are all linked in a real way. Oh yeah...Why did the space shuttle fall out of the sky? When did Mr. Kelly die? Know one knows. Blame it on foam.

OK, let's hear it then -- how?

CIA-trained Al Quaeda operatives bankrolled by international energy cartels. Obviously.

Don't you read the papers, J?

I think both power outages were just publicity stunts staged by The Darkness.
They never do anything by halves...
