The more I think about it, the more I think the plant is Dust.

Matthew Fluxington

That could be it too, because Dust came out of nowhere, they made a big deal about her, and then she receded into the background.

Yeah. It very well could be Dust. She's got such a "spy" power too!

I've been rereading the whole Morrison run, and when Xorn is first introduced, it's because Sublime is buying him from the Chinese government. So I don't think Sublime and Xorn have anything going on between 'em.

Far likelier it be someone like Magneto, who ain't gonna stay dead (if he's even dead now...).

Re: Dust.

I think Weapon Plus literally planted a bomb in the mansion.

Should be interesting to see how Scott, Fantomes and Logan actually made it off that Weapon Plus space station, there... Maybe APOCALYPSE SAVED THEM!!!!!

.... not bloody likely.....

Ooooh. I just looked at #133, and I think Dust really might be the Weapon Plus plant.

Think about it. When we meet her, Fantomex has her. Wolverine is apparently rescuing her, but Fantomex has her and offers him information about his past. Fantomex claims that she was a slave, but we have no reason to believe a word that he says, ever. She is obviously being used as bait to lure Wolverine to Fantomex. Fantomex is a mercenary, and obviously has no problem selling the X-Men out. Obviously, someone has an interest in letting Wolverine know about his history - it's unlikely that Fantomex is just being a nice guy. Dust was used to as bait to lure Logan/Jean to rescue her and bring her to mansion, where she was to complete her mission.

What do you think?

Given the current global climate, do you really think that Morrison is going to introduce a Muslim character just to make her the bad guy? That seems pretty freakin' lameto me.

06:02 / 04.09.03
I doubt Morrison could give a SHIT about global climate or someone's narrowminded opinion. He's beyond circular logic bullshit like that.

Crying? Me? No. Just a tiny bit pissed off that I didn't get my spoilers in one meaty synopsischunk (can't you see what Rich is clearly implying? Jean Grey has never "died" before, at least not in standard crappy retconed marvel continuity). He's saying she's gonna come a cropper. What if the emergence of the pheonix kills her? Or if she evolves to a state where her coporeal form dies as a result? Or the fucking thing bursts out of her chest?

Xorn's induction into the X-Men could have been staged/fabricated. If it was, I'd bet on him being Weapon XIV or XVI rather than XI, based on his power levels etc.

Dust has the clearest link to Weapon Plus if and only if Fantomex is still working for the program.

Emma? Emma doesn't have any secrets left.

Beast I don't buy.

Proffesor X? nope.

Jean? nah.

Woverine and Scott I'm excluding as they aren't at the institute right now.

Dummy? Now there's a thought.

The previews for NXM146 said Xorn tackles Dust when she goes on the rampage in the Mansion. Or something to that effect.

Well, I sort of doubt that Xorn is a product of the Weapon Plus program, but if he is...wouldn't it make sense if he was one of the earliest products, seeing as how he was jailed for 50 years? Xorn should be in his mid to late 60s.

It's sooooooo Dust. I'll be surprised if it isn't.

I seriously doubt that Jean Grey is going to die. It's been done. She may be transformed, but I kind of doubt that too.

But everything we know about Xorn could be a deception, see?

And I think that if Jean does become a godhead type figure, she'll transend 4th dimentional existance and become omnipotent and timeless al la whoever that dude was in invisibles- part of all of us, hence all that has ever lived or whatever- the universal consiousness that we're all subjective experiences of. Hence Jean has always been the pheonix because she's always been desitined to become the pheonix force. I bet 10 english pounds on this.

Flux said: "Please note that Xorn is not among the X-Men in the wreckage during Jean's premonition back in "New Worlds."

No, but he appears to be in front of them - to the left in the picture

Xorn seems to be the likely plant - given all the hints.

He has a dark secret.

He has machine parts.

He killed the U-Men. And seems to know far more about his powers than he let's on to the X-Men.

He 'killed' Quentin just after the student said what if the enemy had been inside all along.

Similarities between him and Weapon XV.

He's on the cover of the next two issues.

He was shut in a military prison - which could well have been a subdivision of the Weapon Plus programme.

If he is the plant. Was he locked up for 50 years - or in something akin to The World for 50 years. Is he unaware of his treachery, or acting under duress? And, as I've said before when mooting the possibility that he's part of the Weapon Plus programme - I recall Flux disagreeing - his prison was the Chinese name for Hell.

So what do you think happens? A fight between him and Jean over Dust leading to Jean's - perhaps only physical - death? Will the Phoenix rise again - especially since we know the future is apocalyptic.

Spoilers:

Well the head of the Weapon Plus programme is called Dr Sublime. What's the bet here's the connection between Cassandra, the Sentinels, the U-Men and the Weapon Plus programme? More on the 145 thread.

Remember when Emma was Hold John Sublime over the window... but then he "jumped"

I'm thinking perhaps Martha the floating brain is much more active than may be assumed. She has the ability to Control Mutants... perhaps she was corrupting Esme (they where in the same class)and perhaps "pushed" "pushed" QQ after he invented anti-gravity floaters for her?... she was also around when Xorn distroyed those U-men (under her influence?).

She also had the very same needles in "her" brain that Cassandra used upon herself... Might those have been Sentinal Nanos?

Could she have John Sublime's consciousness contained in her brain in a similar way that Jean held Charles' Conscousness?
Or was Sublime's whole trip just a front for her to get close to the X-men; being "saved" by them?

As a telepathic Brain without a body she would certainly fit into the equasion of the telepathic heirarchy that's been a theme tlaked about around here . . . .

The bastards on the net with preview copies of #146 are shitting their pants. Totally.

I love getting two issues of this in two weeks.

146 apparently reveals all... with Xorn at the center, for better or worse. I think it would be very likely to have Xorn as the plant, but does that then make his "turn" predictable? Or unpredictable because of its nature? And if it isn't him, could the revelation of anyone else be satisfying?

..... Questions, questions....

this is probably wrong but reading all these theories and the focus on Scott makes me think of another villian, other than Apocolypse.

Throughout the (many) histories of the x-men there was always one bloke who loved nothing more then to meddle with the lives of the Scott brothers (and as a thread rot, what has happened to havok?). Some one who went so far as to create an exact clone of the woman scott loved and who himself (if memory serves) was "created" by Apocolypse himself.

I am, of course refering to Mr Sinister. Now I have no idea what has happened to this character. Last I saw him was the start of Peter David's run on "X-Factor".

Now I know he's not been mentioned throughout Grant's run, and think you guys are right in the fact it won't be an outside character.

Just as long as Grant doesn't do a J K Rowling and the final villian is the one character that appeared in one panel of one page of one of the earlier issues of his run.

Oh I think the final villain has only been in a couple of panels in some ways.

From the spoilers for NXM146 it would seem only Dust or Sophie are plausible Weapon Plus plants.

And as Sophie appears to be working with the villain who'll be revealed in NXM146 that would make Dust the most likely of the two.

"The martyrdom of Magneto could be a foreshadowing of the martyrdom of Charles Xavier"

This seems pretty natural if you buy the Magneto/Malcolm X - Professor Xavier/Martin Luther King Jr. parallel. King was assassinated about three years after Malcolm X.
