Interesting, I seem to be running the opposite to quite a few other people again wrt Grant's work, I wasn't too keen on the quieter year two (though i really need to read it all in one go) whereas, despite thinking Jiminez's art unsuited to New X-men was enjoying what we've had of year three so far.

I have the feeling that Cassandra might make a comeback. I feel that she and Xavier still have to make their peace with one another and that if Xorn does turn out to be 'bad' or a 'threat' then she might rebalance things by helping to neutralise him as he helped to neutralise her. In the issue that concetrated on him he explained how he manipulated energy in order to 'talk'. Surely that same energy manipulation would also make him telepathic?

WRT 'Surely Chuck could have read everyone's mind and worked out who was the murderer?' I think Grant is just following the fine tradition of TV shows like 'Babylon 5' of being completely inconsistent, episode to episode, as to what telepaths can or can't do, together or singly.

Esme's a powerful telepath - and no doubt the hive mind of the Cuckoos provides her with more protection from telepathic scans. Yes, Charles or Jean could have read everyone's minds but they were not regarded as independent - Jean was initially the prime suspect, hence an external investigation.

The World the Felsh and the Devil is the subtitle of the Assault on Weapon Plus arc. Planet X - which focuses on the Phoenix - comes after. It sounds like the next arc could be Grant's take on Days of Future Past - and perhaps suggests that Jean's godlike judgement has terrible consequences for mutantkind. Grant's confirmed writing through to 170 at least btw.

Did no one notice that they're planning to make the costumes more colourful again - I only hope it's tastefully done. No spandex please.

Interesting that Grant is making use of "Planet X", since Planet X is a big conspiracy theory subject in the past 2 years -- apparently it's either the home of an alien race or a mysterious planet that's showing up to throw everything off, orbit- and gravity-wise? Or maybe it's the planet whose remains currently make up the asteroid belt over by Saturn? (Doesn't Alan Moore refer to that in Promethea as the Lost Sphere?)

I'm sure the story won't have anything to do with the above, but it's cool that Grant is again riding the wave of conspiracy theories/alternative science/fringe subjects and fusing 'em with pop culture.

And yes, I read that a future Grant storyline involves a sentinel and takes place IN the future (that's the one illustrated by Marc Silvestri; this is probably the first time he's illustrated a really well-written script in his life!) after NXM 150.

Jimenez was quoted as saying he loved Grant's script for Planet X so much that he was just psyched to get up in the morning and draw it.

SOO happy to hear that Grant is confirmed up through at least 170...

And yes, heard the bit about going to 'more colorful' costumes -- I hope they'll handle it smoothly. There's already been fuss about Darick Robertson on Rucka's new Wolvie solo title being told to draw Logan less gruff and more like Hugh Jackman.

No way! Silvestri illustrated the majority of the Australian era X-Men - he got to draw the new, untested X-Men on the run from the Marauders, the Fall of the Mutants, the relocation to Australia, the very first Genosha storyline, and the stories in which the Australian X-Men group fell apart. That's some really good (and almost relentlessly miserable) x-stuff.

An "alien race"? Mutants.

Nice metaphor.

Uh, back to the issue in question, a friend of mine pointed out another suspect: the Shadow King. He was enclosed inside Psylocke's copy inside Rogue's mind, and Rogue lost her powers, son, it might be possible for him to posses a young inexpert telepath and slowly take revenge on Xavier.

I don't really see the point of bringing back the Shadow King. It doesn't fit in with much of anything Grant's written on the book to date, and we've already gone over the psychic possession thing once before with Cassandra. I would hope that Morrison choose not to beat the dead horse.

At least En Sabah Nur fits in with Scott's history and his philosophies bring a strict Darwinist agenda to the storyline.
