This is my wallpaper at home and oh how I love to see it tiled across.

Having seen Se7en again, I spontanously screencapped and rewallpapered.

My desktop is this:

It's a picture called 'Earthlights' taken by a NASA satellite.

I like it because it makes me think of my Father. He used to have this on his wall, and he had markers in all the places he wanted to go to. He was a landscape and wildlife photographer, and all the places he most wanted to go to were the places with the least lights.

He would have loved Google earth. Google earth was invented for him.

Awesome, I was going to post in this thread before my pc messed up and I had to reinstall, but forgot about it. This is the triquetra I had before reinstalling :

And this is the one that's on now :

Some of you might recognize Morrigan-Hel and wonder how I came across the image, well.....I was looking for wallpapers, of course.

This is my desktop

It's somewhere in New York. I got from a photoblog site. I had it bookmarked but I can't find it now. Did anyone ever see this pic before?

Only the one on my desktop is a better quality image.

Hee hee. You can see her bum.

No not really, it's her pants, but that's what I thought when I saw the anime.

dubmick, if you find the picture again, put the link here, please. That´s a wonderful picture. Doesn´t look like New York somehow.

I stole this idea recently

It took a while to get the right shot. After a while you realise that staring at your wall all night is a bit shit so you change to a nice pic of Yip Man with a blue backround which I can't find a link to just now.

That's probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. Jack Denfeld, you are hereby dethroned.

Ooh, Monty, are you okay? Are you choking on something? Here, let me do the Heimlich maneuver.

I use either a "Red Star" (from the comics) wallpaper normally. Its got the big tram lines running over the rows upon rows upon endless rows of unmarked graves, each bearing a single gold star.

Lately, though, I've been switching to an Edison Hate Future wallpaper that I made from 24 of my favourite Edison strips. Its really nice looking.

I use something similar to Lula - it's called Desktop Earth, but the best part is the dawn/dusk lines update every minute, and the clouds get updated from satellites every three hours. It's awesome!

The transparent screen project is fantastic, I think. More great examples here and here.

Mistoffelees, send me your email address and I'll send it to you. You don't think it's NY? why? It definitely looks like an American city and I can't think of any other city that would have such a density of skyscrapers (if that makes sense!)

I know! But somehow it doesn´t fit with what I imagine Manhattan to look like from all those movies.

How do I get Windows to show a new desktop picture each time I start up? I'd also like to set the color background to match the picture. Is this possible?

Perdido Street Station

I recently got a craving for reading new scifi/fantasy and researched for quality novels. This book got mentioned multiple times and after reading the thread on barbelith with stoatie and everyone raving about it, I recently started reading it. Interesting so far (finished part one).

Recent desktop wallpaper to stay on topic:

Hey lenore, what OS/GUI are you running? It looks nice and minimal.
Nice pics too :-)

The Falcon
00:10 / 24.05.06
I was rocking a nice tile of this beauty - John Paul Leon's cover to Winter Men #5, if yer interested (Russia's totally in vogue in a lot of the best comics these days):

I nearly always have a comic-related screensaver, and it's 90% of the time a Frank Quitely one; Superman flying through the sun's corona and the crashed Authority carrier were particularly suitable for the format and ace.

But... seeing that stunner for Perdido SS there, I had to check if there was anything similar for Iron Council (best yet.) Unfortunately there was not, so I just found the exact same one, and am now using it.

Tramp, I'm one of those insufferable, incurable Linux users - Fedora Core 2. The window manager I use is Enlightenment 0.16.7. I like it because it is so minimalist.

Mistoffelees, I read it, The Scar, Broken Angels and Altered Carbon all thanks to the Books forum. I like the books forum.
