I have an ever-expanding library of photographs of my "heroes'on my screen-saver, e.g. Spike Milligan, Jacques Vallee, Huxley, Dahl, Orwell, Peter Mark Roget, Martin Luther King, Kafka, and so on and so forth...
Having them there makes me feel as though they're here looking out for me, almost (as sad as this sounds) like friends. Sometimes their smiles mock me when I'm being lazy, and sometimes I feel a sense of solidarity when our eyes meet. Most of all, they remind me what is important. |
