Um, sorry for being lame, but (amongst other things) my email account has broken (I seemed to miss half the mail-outs anyway) so I am unable to take part in this project... But I've enjoyed reading the stuff I did receive- from what I've read I can safely say that there is a lot of talent going round. Apologies for not remembering the author (the email is locked in my broken addy), but the piece that struck me as especially effective was the multiple scene piece with the telephone call linking device. Anyway, keep up the good work everyone!

Will write up either Bald, Charm or the Dialogue soon... could someone kick my lazy ass?

Ok. I'm posting off the dialogue thingy today.

I found this very difficult. Everything I started came out as either daytime soap material or sub Victoria Wood skits.

Urk.

And I fear this has not improved with time. So make of it what you will. The beach ball line is an homage.

Phex. Do you fancy setting the next topic?

Is it working? And are you progressing towards some kind of longer-form explosion? Are you going to publish efforts here on the board?

Otherwise isn't this exercise a retreat of sorts? And is that what you want?

These are interesting points.

I'm not sure if it is working. Enthusiasm seems to have dwindled, although what has been posted is largely impressive (to my eyes anyway).
Personally, I've found that I am writing more often, and I definitely have a larger, hopefully better work, bubbling under. However, I'd prefer it if we really got into some kind of rhythym. Weekly tasks would be ideal. I feel that this may only just be happening. Instead of waiting for more writing to come in, the group should have pushed ahead from the beginning.

What does everyone else think?
I've been rather outspoken, and I'm concerned as to how many posters have disappeared without a trace.

Can I ask why you went off-board in the first place? It seems you could easily do things like that in the Creation.

Dunno really.
My first post was in this thread back in May, so I wasn't really up with what was going on elsewhere on the board, hence went along with what others wanted to do. I also didn't have a sense of how keen other people would be on posting their writing on the board rather than share it amongst members of a writing group.

Right now I'd be quite happy to do this either way. I enjoyed doing the random writing exercises on the board.

I think we need to keep the thing going to generate momentum.

Whilst I'm quite happy with the hypostatic list I can see that it is a hurdle.

If we need an on-board alternative then maybe we could have a new thread every week. Current threads would be "writing practise - dialogue" and "writing practise - bald"

Crap.

My hated dialogue piece has now been posted 3 times to the list because nothing seemed to be happening..... and what happens? They all turn up together this morning. Don't worry folks you only have to read it once, honest.

Thanks to autran and phex who have posted marvellous thingys recently. I'll post serious feedback soon. As for now - well it seems to me that tmd is struggling to keep going. I'm quite happy to open it up to the board. Shall we start a thread for each exercise? If you say aye then I'll be happy to oblige to start the first new one. If I wait too long for an answer then I'll just go ahead and do it anyway.

My last tmd piece, BALD, has now been posted to that hypostatic list.

See you on board for Brief Encounter soon.....
