Sorry, I can't help with that one

Here's one of my own. A dance music track in the vein of Warp's Artificial Intelligence output (might have been on Brainiac Records), came out '92 or '93 and sampled the vocoded backbeat/lyrics from Laurie Anderson's From the Air.

Bow-ow
Babow
Bo-a-ow

Laurie Anderson's Big Science is my current speshul favourite, by the way. Love me that Superman

Zippy: It wasn't Shivaree's "Goodnight Moon," was it?

Zip, could it be Feist's "My Moon, My Man"?

Mick, I don't know who the song is by, but I have a theory about why the boyfriend is out of the picture, if you'd like to hear it? It's kind of a cautionary tale that could dissuade you from pursuing that shit any further.

...there's a Julian Cope song, right? On one of Citizen Cain'd, Fried, Interpreter, Jehovahkill or Peggy Suicide.
It's got several distinct musical segments, a sort of Radiohead-eque bassline, and a metal-ish strictly rhythmic guitar part that's much tighter than his usual stuff. And I can't bloody remember which one it is. Any takers, or have I just described all Julian Cope songs somewhat unhelpfully?

Jack: It must have been, and now I'm embarrassed because I have that sitting right in my iTunes playlist and listen to it probably once a week. One of those cases of listening with half an ear to something and then later registering that I'd heard something I liked... but what was it?

Oh, hell, I'll just say I was drunk; maybe it'll make me feel better.

could someone click on the Wall-E trailer over on quicktime/apple movie trailers, watch the 2nd trailer, and tell me what that that oh so used yet funky and mellow 50's style tune is please. I thank you in advance.

I can't say for sure, because, it never breaks into the full melody, but it sounds a hell of a lot like "Brazil." Whose version, I have no idea; the song's been performed by everybody from Django Reinhardt to the Arcade Fire.

ah yes, thank you Jack, spot on! Will search through i-tunes to identify the version.

man listened to this in the background on one of those tv music channels. think the channel was "alternative music". dont know if the song is popular or obscure, havent listened to the radio lately.

very catchy, with something about "whats important in your life" or "whats important to you" and i believe the chorus has something about "make a decision"

Jack, is it this song?

Artist: Against Me, Title: Stop

Stop! Take some time to think, figure out what’s important to you. (*3)
You’ve got to make a serious decision.

It could be me up there in stage lights.
It could be me on the TV in you living room.
It could be me jet setting with my band all across the world.
Appearing live in concert one night only, tickets sold out.

chorus

There I am giving candid disclosure to press in interview.
There I go on my way through the crowd up to the podium.
On behalf of our fans we’d like to accept this award.
Smile for the camera boys, gold record in hand.

chorus

All of our lives in waiting.
All of our lives traded for their roses and applause.
All of our lives dedicated to shoving it right back in their fucking face.

For anyone wondering about my last question about the Green Wing piece; it's a rearrangement by Trellis of "Drinkin' in La" by Bran Van 3000. I think the reason that I was so thrown off is that Trellis' version is a great deal better than the original.

Sounds as though it coouulld be Safesurfer, haven't heard it for years but I reckon it has different segments and it's on Peggy Suicide.

That was my thought exactly. It's on 'Peggy Suicide' and lasts for about 7 minutes.

I'm trying to find the name of the song played during the advert at the begining of the old anime vhs version of Akira.

Key words: Guitar, Tetsuo falling through glass and saying "Whats happening?" and...Dur du du du du du du, dudle du dur du dur dur di di di di di di, di dur, di dur.

there's a song i suddenly remembered.

it's been knocking around since last year, i think. the band had the word "Bat" or "Grass" in it. The video for the song had the female singer riding down a darkened road on a bicycle, followed by riders in animal suits doing little hops every so often.

and i can't, not for the bloody life of me, remember it.

any help, 'lithers?

Again, my brain dug up a really old music video, and please tell me the song and/or the artist.

It was 15+ years ago. The video was pretty much a guy on keyboards in the middle of a packed club full with partying people. And the synthesizer guy looked pretty ecstatic, as if he was playing with closed eyes. Since it´s a tune without any lyrics, I could never do a proper internet search for it. The artist might have been french. The video probably was on MTV Europe.
