Got a tune in your head that you can't identify? Why not seek help from your fellow 'lithers?

I sure do.

Anyone seen that new Nokia picture phone ad (uk)? Anyone know what that "doo, dee, derr" music is? Female vocal, reminiscent of indian chat etc...

Please help me...

What perfect timing for this thread. A random mix tape sprouted in my car last year, and I've just been enjoying it. But now I'm running Fetish Ball at my college and would really like to know the title and artist of the song that goes "If I cut off your arms and cut off your legs, would you still love me anyway? If you're bound and gagged, draped and displayed, would you still love me anyway?"

...if I cut off your arms and cut off your legs....is "Helena" by the Misfits. From the album "Famous Monsters". Inspired, I assume, by the film "Boxing Helena"......directed by Jennifer "David's daughter" Lynch.

Too much info, maybe.

This might be a bit dated, but did anyone catch a Victoria's Secret ad a while ago on American TV - one of their "Body by Victoria" promotional bits? The model in the ad was Tyra Banks. Anyway, the music in the background was this great R&B tune - it almost sounded a bit Barry White-ish, pretty slow. No vocals for a while - just some music with a thumping beat - and then wordless ... um, moaning? In tune with the music: "ahhh-ahhh-ahhhh-AH-ahhh-ahhh-ahhh...". Does anyone know what song this is? Hmm ... if anyone has any clue, holler out or PM me - I don't know music off-hand but might be able to provide notes to go along with the moaning bit. Also I'd be extremely grateful - this has been driving me nuts for a while.

Here's a clip from Top Gear. James May is testing a Honda Element, which is nice, but I'm wondering what that tune in the background is, and it's driving me nuts.

It obviously sounds like Jethro Tull, what with the flute and everything, but I've been told that's not what it is. Others have suggested The Herbaliser, but nothing is certain yet.

Please help. Sanity at stake.

What the hell's that song that's in like every commercial? Fast, walking bass line and high pitched "Woo hoo, woo-hoo-hoo. Woo hoo, woo-hoo-hoo."

There's another woo-hoo song, also in tons of commercials, but it's got this distorted guitar hook and a 'ooWOO hoo,' also high-pitched.

That's the best I can describe them, but somebody must know what I'm talking about.

do you mean the song in the corsa advert? the hide and seek woo-hoo! woo hoo hoo! one? the song that is very much about the woo hoo and that has a great bit of drumming just before the drop?

Touch Sensitive, i hear.

song2 is by blur, by the way.

Fun With Phobias - I think you mean 'Woo Hoo' by The 5678s, a surf punk girl group from Tokyo. That song was featured in Kill Bill Vol. 1, hence its subsequent frequent use in ads etc.

Petey/Toksik: I can't listen to either of those to verify because of the comp I'm on at the moment, but I'm 99% sure you're both right. Thanks a bunch.

There's this song, and I know (pretty much for definite) that the title is 'I'm Insane', and it's probably by Dinosaur Jnr. (although it's not on any of their albums as far as I know). There's the scuzzy 80's Indie guitar, but also what sounds like a trumpet (possibly Oboe) in there, and there's the lyrics 'If I ran away today/would you pull me back tommorow?'.
Can anybody identify it?

Google informs me that 'I'm Insane' is on the Dinosaur Jr album Hand It Over and has lyrics and horns just like you say...

Just Add Water - that track sounds to me like some kind of 70's library music, the likes of which were released on many a loungecore/easy listening compilation in the 90's. I had a quick listen through a few of mine, but didn't find it. It does sound familiar, but at the same time quite generic. Will have another search when I get time (cos it's really bothering me now...)

Okay guys. Here's a real challenge. Last year/this year, Kingdom of Heaven found its messy self in theatres. Prior to this, however, was trailers. In one of the trailers for the theatre, the music they used was contemporary and guitar-based. Very mellow, low-end guitar and some contemporary drums, too. Please please please can someone identify this tune?
(I am somewhat suspicious that it was original music to the trailer, but I can't even download the right trailer.)

Mike: I appreciate it. I'm beginning to suspect the library option as well.
I've heard it in a couple of tv ads here (norway), but I can't find them. Which is a shame, because you hear the tune much better there.

matt: Is this the trailer?

And is this of any help?

What's the track on the Climate Challenge TV ad? Ace kind of post-rocky sort of strummy electric stuff, with mental jingly percussion. It's cool.

I've checked all the advert track sites I know, and asked a lot of people - there is a song that featured in a cinema advert for VW convertable cars, done in the honda animated car style, with the cars flying around landing on flowers - what was the music to this (it's been used in a couple of BBC adverts also, and was on in a pub recently - when I asked what it was called they said 'the heart of the flower' but I couldn't find anything on the net by that name, or at least the song that I'm thinking of) it has a kind of 70's musical feel to it, all big voices and choruses and stuff - please please please know what it is!

I think you're talking about Minnie Ripperton's Les Fleur, I'm not sure if it's 4Hero's cover version of the song or the original.

I think the Minnie Ripperton version is the VW ad and the Bailey's version is 4Hero?

By the way, what's that # you can call on yr mobile and get the tune decoded after 4-5 seconds? It might be gracenote or something?

Like 8528 or similar? Furthermore, what's the website where you can get old radio playlists - I don't really know how exactly to phrase a search, and Westwood dropped so many (UK hip-hop) bombs in sequence the other week, I thought it was a air-raid; i.e. I'd like to know what the tunes were.

Here's a proudly unfashionable one for you;

Woodstock - the documentary - before any of the bands start playing, there are two songs that play over footage of people setting up for the concert and generaly hanging out in empty fields in a utopian hippy manner. They are both fucking great, mellow late-60s stormers, but a search through the movie's credits reveals no obvious info re: what they are.

Any hints?

CSNY and Canned Heat maybe?

Duncan, it's 2580 - down the middle of your phone - I tried it, hummed, sung made up words in the tune that I had in my head, but to no avail, but I've also seen it work for real when the music is properly done.

It would appear so.

I feel lazy now, I probably could have looked that up in seconds - thanks.

Okay, it's an 80s track, with a guy talking (I think) about kissing. It was pretty popular in the UK.
That's all.

You could possibly be talking about the Age Of Chance's cover of Prince's "Kiss", Boboss. From memory, the vocals in it were pretty deadpan, and I think it was a UK hit of some sort.

(The song was covered by Art Of Noise & Tom Jones a couple of years later, too, but I doubt that's what you're talking about.)

Spaniel
13:26 / 29.01.06
Hmm, I'm pretty sure I'm not. It's more conversational, and I think I'd recognise a cover of Kiss, deadpan or not.

Spaniel
13:30 / 29.01.06
Oh, and it's definitely not the Tom Jones cover.

I think the vocalist was describing how to kiss.

There's a song on the current T-Mobile ad with people walking though walls, with music which sounds faintly like "On The Road Again" done in an electro style, and lyrics something like "Turn me on" in the chorus - anyoneknow what this might be?
