It was never a brawl. The "enemy" were just baring their bums and being stupid. After the "Comics? For Kids?" thread I NEVER assumed anyone would take its mirror-image in the magic seriously. Besides which: "Magic? For Kids?"? What the hell kind of argument is that? Let alone all the bollocks Fraely, Ford, 25 and myself have been spouting.... And I would hope that most 'lithers were up on my magickal opinions. Weird. Anyway......

Onion was just getting het up 'cause no-one was playing along without frowning. I'm not sure where yr getting the emotional-territorial, circuit 2 stuff from.... And anyway, Onion's more than familiar with RAW and Korzybski - just lazier/less interested in applying the theory.

"Did I just use the word "is"? Shit! And what about all this mammalian shit-flinging? Damn-the-fuck! Gotta cut that out..."

There just aren't enough hours in the day.

I tend to think Korzy's E Prime lark's alright for a bit of perspective, but, inevitabley, just as ontologically off/on the mark as all that waffle about "essences" the other crowd are into.

Wow, what a fucking waste of space.

And I would hope that most 'lithers were up on my magickal opinions.

Well, now I am. And what a great first impression, BTW. It's always refreshing to see people who offer no real thought other than to tell everyone else they're wrong. I'll be sure to instantly disregard anything I see from you in the future. Way to stir up the nest, boyeee (that's street for "dude" - see, I can keep it real too, even though I'm almost 32. And let me give a shout out to my MC. Word.)

And kudos to Crabb and Goyle..er, I mean galssonion and fraelyboy for dilligently defending their archmage. Walk in step, boys! You're good machines.

Yep, the silliness has run its course.

I guess I missed the silliness part, Runc. Near as I could tell, your posts failed in being either thoughful or humorous (although I enjoyed fraely's joke about the Little Mermaid). Here's a handy social tip: when you think you're being funny but nobody is laughing, you're actually being a dick. Keep this in mind and you'll have real friends in no time!

That's NO TIME.

Whatever. S'just one thread. Not the end of the world.

Localised silliness.

Where's the "silliness"? Ummm....where do I start? "Thoughtful"? Eh? What? But to make up for it there were doggone heads. They always make me laugh, anyway. Could I be sooo wrong?

What?

"Yes"?

Doggone heads make you sick with anger?

Look, I'm sorry if you were offended and the anti-smile, but it's all over now. Ignore away if you must, but, y'know, I've been around here since forever - I've got plenty of "real friends". And we have the best hair.

32, eh? Keep 'em coming, boys an' gals. Thick and fast.

But just to keep the ball rolling:

I'm 27

Fraely's 27

Ford's 25 (I think)

Onion's 25 (I think)

Doggone heads make you sick with anger?

I can honestly say that nothing makes me sick with anger, least of all your postings or this thread.

And I can appreciate the Discord. The only thing that inspired me to comment were a few assertions/implications that nobody else knows what they're talking about and that only you and your MC have the street cred to speak the Truth. I'll take it as a joke - and keep you in mind the next time I feel like stirring shit up

I'm just...I can't even say I'm shocked or surprised at the inability of the majority of posters to this particular forum to handle any sort of questioning about the way in which they think about or do magic(k) without fucking temper tantrums, name calling, whining or torrents of abuse. It's just depressing, is all.

Utterly disappointing – the insecure, defensive attitudues that Runce, glassonion, SUS et all has had to put up with from all you little boys shaking your magick wands with your pathetic little fists in righteous indignance. All you lot have done is prove them right:You really are a bunch of immature kids. No matter HOW old you might be chronologically.

Barbelith's Magick Forum. The finest the web has to offer in occult discussion. Just don't rock the boat.

Hmmm... I wonder why the magick forum keeps losing people? Could it be due to a complete lack of humour from the majority of posters?

Ever get the feeling like you're just walking along, and accidently trip and fall into a Mad Magazine?

Yeah. This thread free. Cheap.

I'm enjoying myself, Runce.

Good old dada is hard to find. My thoughts on the subject- reality is worthless. The school of hard knocks is a shallow way of looking at life.
Perception is fallable, and thus experiencing things AS THE ARE is already impossible. So, hey. Pet the dog and call it an expression of the duality of suprime power and temporary temporal storage compartment for carbon.

or give up the dada. games grow old.

I always found this thread both hilarious and frustrating. Unfortunately the frustrating elements make the hilarity possible, so...

The thing is, what very few people understood, was that Pappuce et al, never had a point. They were taking the piss from the get go. It's called baiting.

As was I. It was a read.

No, I think I was responsible for the barbequote. I bumped the thread before Fly posted.

Why the bump? Because I felt like a good laugh, and I wanted to share it with others. Clearly at least two other people (Duncan and Fly) got something out of it, and that's good enough for me.

*Makes check mark on calendar with a happy, happy smile.*

Yeah, reading back over it, it is funny.

I think the only reason that the whole thing attracted such snarls of fury is that the "Magic is for KIDS!" line of trolling, be it never so well executed, is a little too familiar for those of us who've seen many threads disrupted on boards elsewhere with cries of "Lolz! U thk teh magic is REEL? U R all leik 12 & read Hary Pottter!!1!". In the past I've even had random people email me to tell me that magic isn't real dumbass and I'm probably 14 and probably I also watch Charmed.

Mordant, what's interesting is that Pappuce and Fraely had no idea that "magick is for kids" would be such an inflammatory statement. They'd done the same thing over in the Comic's forum to little effect - probably because the irony was a little more apparent - DC's slogan in the eighties being "comic's aren't just for kids".

As someone who was present, I can assure everyone that the ensuing trollfest was at least partially fuelled by amazement that no-one saw what was going on. I mean, "power leap"? Pictures of collie dogs?

Thanks, Boboss. I laughed, I cried, I loved the puppies.

It is funny how defensive people get, isn't it? I mean, if someone thinks belief in magic is stupid or immature, why do we care?

A guilty little part of me thinks Crunchy's Head Shop thread "The Moral Case For Moral Cases" should be retitled "Moral Cases: For Kids?" just to get some kind of indication how HS prickliness compares to Temple prickliness.

I think genuine magic(K!) occurs when you try and read it straight, and not as a 'trollfest'.

Ho yes.

After reading to page 2 in this thread and then seeing this :

Yep, the silliness has run its course. But what a course! Along the way we've met mages of great and terrible power; heard whisperings of the deep and foreboding "level 6"; enjoyed the boys in their hats; tipped our hats to the common-or-garden familiar; started a sub-thread entitled "How old are most wizards?" and imposed a heck-load of order on a smattering of stupid-chaos. Wonderful! And Velvetvandal's laid down the truth about "isness", how to write properly and low-level, second-circuit thinking! Great! I can't wait for glassonion's swift and speedy counter-argument!

I think I laughed like I've hardly ever laughed reading something here. That was really funny.
