Re: cartoon politics - I think it's way obvious for anyone who watched the first series that Reza is pure as the driven snow and that the Islamic fundamentalist angle is just a front for... someone else. Probably based inside the USA itself.

Being in the US, I'm up to 11 PM, and the last time was the best of the series so far, and one of the best episodes I've seen on TV, any show. Sure, it's a bit cheesy and over the top, but the scope of what was going on was incredible. Don't be skeptical about the Mason plot, it made my least favorite character from season one, into probably my favorite in 2.

I'm not sceptical about it, I'm just kinda missing the fact that I can't sit and wait for Jack to shoot him again. I was hoping he'd get shot in the face this time. I really think this is the chance for him to be good, if he just STOPS KILLING PEOPLE.

And could it be any more obvious that Reza's soon-to-be father-in-law is a terrorist? i do rather like the idea, however, the Kim's plot never has anything to do with the main one, and that, while it's too much to hope that the wedding will never do anything other then get horribly blown up in an attack for no reason, I doubt that (Jack needs someone to pork, after all), I like the idea that it's never really connected.

This won't happen, and I'll be left very upset, but it's a nice thought. Like slash.

***SPOILERIFIC POSTING********

I still find this hugely entertaining if only to see Jack running around screaming "WHERE'S THE BALM?!!!" every 10 mins.

So they find the 'balm' except it's not the real balm then they find the real balm and discover they can't defuse it. Does this mean that LA will disappear from the face of the planet ?Please God, say yes. No - Jack makes the ultimate sacrifice by flying the bomb into the desert

The only way they could have made this better was if CTU told Jack that some of the terrorists were escaping into the desert in a truck and Jack landed the plane on top of them. And you just know the writers thought about this.

But then George pops up from the back of the plane! George (the Incredible Melting Man) gives Jack the chance to parachute to safety. "Why should you get to do all the cool shit around here? I want to do something screaming bonkers" says George before hitting the ground like the UK's Eurovision entry.

Next week: World War Three

I just watched the whole first season and fell in love with this show. Soon I will see the second season on DVD. I have tried to stay away from 2nd season spoilers but have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak... *sob*

I just started watching season 2 on DVD - it's great so far except for the annoying Kim subplot (getting tired of seeing Kim in danger and fucking things up)...

Season 4 starts in a few weeks!

PatrickMM
01:04 / 06.12.04
Yeah, that season two Kim stuff is awful, but overall, I'd say it's the best season. Which isn't to crack on three, which was great, and I'm looking forward to four.

I'm in the middle of season 2 and totally loving it, totally addicted. George Mason switched places with Jack.... don't want to say too much more for fear of spoiling others, but then again, season 2 is 2 years old so maybe it's no biggie...

Well, it's official. Barbelith no longer cares for Jack. "I don't care either!" shouts Jack into his mobile, shooting a hostile in the leg for no reason, except that Jack gets the job done, dammit!

No one's watching Season 4? The show was smart enough to show the first 4 episodes over two nights, and while I was kinda skeptical - and kinda still am - sure enough, I'm back to interested.

The show works better as a B-grade, guilty pleasure of cliffhangers and melodrama, rather than the big, serious (dare I say) 'political' as some tried to paint it... let's put it on at midnight and enjoy!

Oh, shit, you mean it's turned into Alias?

I suppose Alias and 24 could share a costume budget and both would break even...

I think moreso, 24 is turning into La Femme Nikita. Not just with more of the latter's cast showing up in the former, but that ridiculous spy-speak, whispered workplace betrayals... ah, good times.

(Never would you see me so content as when I would realise, unplanned, that an episode of La Femme Nikita was about to start. Will I be banned from Barbelith for admitting I liked it much more than the original film?)

damn, I love 24...i'm an a bona fide fan of this entire fricking thing. I loved season 1, bought it on DVD, watched the whole thing over again, then did the same for Season 2. Then season 3 came, i watched the first couple episodes, missed a couple and decided to wait for the DVD. I bought that set and watched all 24 hours over about 3-4 straight days, 4-6 hours at a time...fantastic season!

SPOILERS:::::::

This season is pretty cool, but the lack of palmer bugs me. Good thing it's reported he will return (along with dressler and almeda) at some point in the season. Yippee.

Things are definitely picking up. My favorite plot so far has been with Beruz (not sure how that's spelled) and his family. The Jack stuff is great, but it's not vastly different from where we've already been, but that sort of family dynamic is completely new, and there's a lot of interesting directions it can go.

the first 15 minutes of this episode were per kickassery.

And I adore how they pulled the "24-it-starts-as-one-plot-then-whammo-now-it's-another-plot!". Goody good good.

I believe the first words that came out of my mouth were "Holy shit." I'm hoping this means we'll see Michelle turn up as well. And judging from the preview, there'll be some big consequences playing out from what happened to Tony in season 3.

I recently discovered 24, rented season 1 and 2, and bought season 3 (I had to get it from the UK, because although it´s showing right now on tv, I don´t have one).

And now I think about getting a region 1 DVD-player, so I don´t have to wait til august (when season 4 is available as region 2 DVD from the UK)!

I just hope, there will be no Kim in season 4, please!

Actually, in regards to Tony, i think i yelled "SOUL PATCH!" as soon as his wonderful quasi beard entered the frame.

I didnt really like the first 2 seasons, season 3 was entertaining but meh, but so far i cant get away from season 4, i think i may need to rewatch the earlier ones.

i just re-watched season 1 over the last week, and found it to be basically pitch perfect every step of the way, a little slice of perfect television, down to the final silent clock count.

season 2...i'm rewatching now (i've gone crazy!), and it's quite incredible as well.

basically the first 2 seasons only problem is they suffere from 'what do we do with kim and teri in s1, and kim in s2?'

Season 1's memory loss thing with teri...oh gee, that made me skip a beat, but it was soon worked out ok. Season 2's kim adventures are just a bit on the WTF side...if it doesn't have to do with the main plot, why bother with the kim in peril angle. dumb.

Season 3...i have to say i stopped watching it the first time it was broadcast, but was addicted to it on DVD.

Whoa, The President's back next week, plus last week we get the unheralded return of Mike, who I dont' think has been on since season two. Everybody's getting their few episodes in, very cool to see. Jack going vigilante may have been done a few times before, but next week seems to be a club-set fight scene whcih is always good.

it worked for Collateral.

Yay, Palmer!

Is it me or the Edgar getting mad subplot really very dumb? I hope it doesn't result in Edgar shooting someone in a fit of confused rage.

I'm currently about 4 ep's into season 3 (just got the DVD set) and absolutely loving it. Tony just got shot in the neck, Jack is considering going rogue...again... to save the country. But why is there another mole in CTU?!?! We already saw that plot in season 1. It cracks me up that this guy is running terrorist operations out of a closet in CTU.

Season 4 just wrapped, and here is my geek rating of the seasons:

#2 - Season One
#3 - Season Two
#4 - Season Four

Oh. My. God.

I'm down to the final 4 episodes of season 3 and the show is blowing me away. Just incredible all around.

So many great moments here I can't even choose. I hope the show is this good for the 4th season.

season 4 is really good for most of it, but starts to fall apart in the last stretch to me...

So here's a spoiler-filled question about season 3 -- remember Kyle Singer, the kid who was thought to be infected, then they find out 3/4 of the way through the season that he's not? Why was he not infected? A big ruse from Ramon Salazar & Co. to throw the feds off the track (so big a ruse that they kidnapped the kid and had armed guards trailing him constantly? quite a psyche-out, if true)? Or did he just turn out to be one of the 30% or so who don't get infected at all, naturally immune?

I don't think the show ever addressed this, they just said 'whoa shit, the Singer kid actually isn't gonna die after all, he's not even sick!!!' and then the plot moved on to Big Climax Things. My friend who I watched this season with concurs that they never addressed it.
