Tony died.

He didn't get a silent clock treatment because -- and this according to one of the producers in an interview I read at the end of Season 5 -- the show only allows one silent clock per season. And since they'd given it to Edgar in his ultra-depressing death the episode before, they didn't give one to Tony.

In this same interview the producer claimed one of his biggest regrets with Season 5 was that they didn't focus much on Tony or Michelle's deaths. He was upset how they'd killed off two major characters, and spent little time allowing the characters to reflect on it.

So maybe this provided the germ to bring Tony back to life?

Whatever, it's a ridiculous idea, and I'm glad I dropped the show...Season 5 was a good season to go out on.

What's really dumb is they could just bring Chase back as the villain in Season 7, if they're going for an angle of "former pal of Jack's goes bad." Something they've done many, many times, of course. I mean, I could just see a one-handed Chase dreaming up some terrorist schemes. He could even hook on various hand weapons, a la Han in Enter the Dragon.

Though I've read the actor no longer wants to be involved with the show (apparently they tried to get him back last season for a few episodes, and he declined).... Guess he's busy doing...well, nothing.

Or blind Ricky Schroder could be the bad guy.

I don't hold out much hope for the next season, but I do hope Jack gets to kill the bad guy. He hasn't managed this since the first season - season two a sniper takes dude out, season three it's Gael's wife, season four Marwhan kills himself to avoid giving them information, season five the Pres just gets arrested, and season six his dad gets blown up on an oil rig. Also, if Tony is back, I have little doubt his dad is coming back sometime as well.

Surely the show hasent gone so far down the pan that they'd bring his Dad back at somepoint too? On second though maybe your right, and it doent even matter that the writers r on strike because they obviously didnt have one for season 6.

You know what I miss? The first season's tagline was 'The longest 24 hours of Jack Bauer's life." Then the second season they went with, "The second-longest 24 hours of Jack Bauer's life." I wish they had kept that up. "The seventh-longest hour of Jack Bauer's life might not sound like such a big deal, but come on, his best friend is back from the dead and ANGRY!"

um, Jackie, Jack sure killed the hell out of eeevil Peter Weller at the end of season 5. It wasn't just 'the President got arrested.'

That 1994 24 comedy video is pretty good.

too bad Chase doesn't want to come back.

Well, he kills some of the bad guys in every season, sure. The Arab terrorist in the last season, etc. He just doesn't get to kill the main bad guy left in the final episode.

i dunno if anybody here is wondering, but 24 day 7 will only come back in 2009 and co-creator\producer Joel Surnow has quit the show to pusue new projects on cable TV. he was regarded by fans as representative of the more NeoCon aspects of the overall plots.

a 2-hour TV-movie will bridge seasons 6 and 7 [instead of the regular 10 minute car manufacturer-sponsored short] to make up for a lack of full season this year.

Thanks for the info, Hector!
That´s a smart move by Fox. From what I´ve seen on other forums, I´m not the only one, who has lost interest in the series. The trailer for the next (and possibly last) season looked interesting, after they finally moved away from LA, but that TV movie might be more helpful to show people, that the producers have finally found a new direction for the series.

Will the movie version be called 2? And will Jack be relieved as fuck at the end that he didn't have to stay up all night to stop the terrorists this time?

for those who still care\remember...

i couldn't find a direct link, so sorry for sharing a post from one of my blogs. here's the trailer for 24: EXILE, the 2-hour telefilm with robert carlyle. the plot reminds me of the latest RAMBO film and PHANTOM comics.

like the previous 10-minute shorts, it bridges seasons 6 and 7 - but actually looks more interesting to me than what we've seen of the 7th season.
