Started a short life-drawing course yesterday. I'm not used to concentrating so hard for 3.5 hours at a time. Nor standing that long. It's fun, though. I need to buy some smooshier charcoal before the next class. And another pad.

I'm also working on two paintings at home, both of which I'm afraid to go further on, because while they're certainly not complete as is, they look really good and I'm afraid I'll ruin them.

The usual gross shit at work...

Tending my ailing kitty...

And for myself? Yoga, liftng weights, and purging the apartment of a bunch of completely uneccessary trash. Trying to play catch-up on movies I've missed, people I haven't seen in a while.

And marveling that I completely missed it when I put up my 666th post.

Hm...what have I been up to...

I am back to writing a novel I set aside about 4 years ago and it's going slowly. I have to finish it for a lot of reasons, but I'm thinking I could have it done by the end fo the year.

I have written the first year of a webstrip "Asylum on 5th Street" that the artist says will be starting in late July. I should have the second year sketched out by the time she starts, but the bad thing is that I want to do topical humor, so the story stuff that's already written may last 3 years.

I hit 175 lbs (3 sets of 12) on my bench press and want to get it up to 195 lbs by the end of the year.

I'm playing RPGs again.

I am growing weary of the management at the group home I'm the director of and and starting to look about for a better job.

I have given up on finding anyone to spend time with.

Lastly, I am trying to think of ways to make money with my weekly news parody.

I've also been working on the website.

Working on my splits.

I could do them when I was 7, and I know I can again. Its gotta be now, before I get (even more) stiff and ancient. It bloody sore, but I've gotta "see thru the pain." Or so they tell me. Only an inch and a half to go.

And I'm painting a few big vases and mirrors to sell, Charles Rennie Mackintosh stylie. Which keeps mind and head together. Or alcohol and stomach together.

Sadly, I think mine's dead in the water. I haven't heard from Donny in a few so I'm taking that as a sign he's probably moved on to pay work. He mentioned he might several months back.

Which sucks. I had some serious samurai/ kunoichi/ shugenja/ tengu action thought up for our story. Yamabushi legends and Japanese history was my life for nearly four months straight.

Sorry to hear that, Mass. One of the artists I'm working with at the moment is already impatiently anticipating the end of our current project - from his own concept - so that he can begin on his next project - a semi-fictional historical story set in feudal Japan.

If you can't find an artist for your project, let me know - we're all working beyond the threat of pay for the foreseeable future, so we might be able to work something out if the opportunity arises.

Life is work and work is life (or so it seems).

- Working on cleaning out/trimming up/tearing out all the overgrown foliage around my backyard

- Working like hell to get the Terminix folks to GET RID OF THE TERMITES IN MY KITCHEN!!! (How many times must I verbally work them over?)

- Working to promote my self-published comic book in my area (are ya out there sunny Florida?)

- Working on a two-page no-holds-barred, maxing-out-my-various-artistic-skills comic story.

- Working to promote an artist's collective website to which I belong (http://www.plastichassle.com for those who're interested. Be sure to drop by my dream journal blog. Apologies for the lack of linkage).

- Starting to work with/on/thru Kabbalah.

- Working thru the Tarot's Minor Arcana one meditation at a time.

- Trying to work in some quiet, restful moments in my busy, busy days.

*YES!*

I did a backflip on the beam by myself today, and am most proud. However, it was the beam which is 4 inches off the floor. Move me up a metre, and i will kack myself. But there are three weeks til i go away, and it will happen. Oh yes.

At work, backgrounders and papers on location, communities, and self-expression. Amongst gnarly boring project management.

At home, getting my head round unpacking, and finishing some projects off, as I've decided to apply for an MA course next year in Interaction Design, hopefully at the Royal College of Art. Also mulling a business plan, but I've got no clue how to set up a business (especially with a 3 month lock-in at work).

I also want to get my soldering iron out and hot-rod some mobile phones.

Well. I am currently moving house for my Mum (but there's 15 years of scary hoarding to sort out...)

I'm trying really hard to start painting again because it fulfils me and someone offered me some money for a painting, and I'm trying really hard to start writing my book because it's just the starting that's the problem and I know once I've begun I'll be fine.

I'm still debating whether to get a job or take an MA course, or concentrate on painting and writing.

I'm also planning a big party in celebration of my Dad, and I'm trying to figure out what to do with the 26,000 odd slides that he took for his photograhic library.

I'm just about to take up T'ai Chi (I've got as far as looking up courses.)

And I'm basking in the glow of the fact that my son can now read and write and uses the word 'independently' on a regular basis. Although he does still pronounce the word 'children' as twillderwen.'

And of course I'm still dreaming all the time, keeping my dream journal and practicing remote seeing.

Oh, and congratulations to you Gingerbop for your backflip. Rock on.

Late to the party, as ever…

I know that feeling ...

At this exact moment I'm trying to learn three songs for an audition tonight. Just call me Judy Garland.

I thought it would be neat to bring this thread back up and remind some of you what you were working on way back when. Did you ever accomplish what you were working on? Also, we can list our current plans or just do a part 2 in a new thread.

The same book I've been working on for the past couple years, possibly few years, I've lost track.
Temporarily abandoned till the idea can refresh itself.

Lecture on the first two plays in the Oresteia.
Done a long time ago.

User guide for a program I've never seen, used, or likely ever will use.
Managed to get out of that through hissyfits and angry references to my contract, moved past that job ages ago.

Collages for the cabinets in my kitchen.
Decided that between heat, condensation, etc, that that was a really stupid idea.

Patching up a coat.
Gave up, got new coat. Will throw old coat away any minute now.

Crocheting a scarf.
Stopped talking to the person I was crocheting one scarf for about a year ago, because her husband is a jerk, and they're a package deal, other scarves still pending, but it's too hot to futz with wool.

Making a corset.
Mneh. Haven't gotten around to it.

Making a pillow for a cat-bed.
Finished twice over, but the cats don't much care for them.

Writing more scripts for webcomic (on hiatus.)
Artist never would commit to more than one strip a month, have given up on that project.

So. Corset and crocheting still outstanding, but other than that, done. I should make a new list, I suppose.

My phony French rock group The Fancy Boys just recorded a couple songs. This one's called Comic Collection. We're recording again in August, then putting out a CD EP and a split 7" with another band. Making our second trip to Melbourne in September. Last time was good.

Some friends and I had a meeting during the week about the record label we're about to start. We'll put out a compilation of our favourite Brisbane bands (and maybe a few non-locals as well) to begin with.

I'm working on becoming a better person. Yep, after 7 years of going out on my own and not having any close friends (and hurting people who tried to get close) I'm finally making a real effort to socialise, make friends and be nice to people in general.
I've made a lot of progress in the last few weeks and I'm now feeling a lot better about myself.
I went to a gig last Wednesday (first gig in years that I didn't go to on my own) and since then my left ear has been completely fucked and quite painful. So I didn't go out Friday and Saturday night. I met some people at a cafe yesterday but had to leave because I could hardly understand the person next to me, never mind the other people at the table. So that's me all on my own again.
I'm going to see a doctor tomorrow but I've been quite panicky the last few days - I'm scared I might never be able to hear properly again. The timing of this is great of course (it would make me laugh if I wasn't so worried) - maybe I'm really not meant to be with people.

Anyways, other things I'm working on:
Reiki level 2 (next month)
Parelli Natural Horsemanship level 2
Tai Chi (ongoing)
Drumming workshop this Friday (my first time)
Forming a band
Clearing my backlog of books/magazines/newspapers (ongoing)
Looking for a new job
Doing more magic(k)
Taking up pilates/yoga/another martial art
Doing some writing
(I could go on forever)
Final exams this month (should be at the top of my list but I just can't be bothered anymore)
