i'll start this one off...
for some reason right now i have 'bad babysitter' by princess superstar lodged in my mind.

"i'm a bad babysitter, got my boyfriend in your shower, Woo! I'm makin 6 bucks an hour
i'm a bad babysitter, got my boyfriend in your shower, Woo! I'm makin 6 bucks an hour"

so, whats stuck in your head?
i'm sure it's not as irritating as what's in mine.

Wherever Whenever - Shakira - it's on the radio.

Also thinking about that Ghetto Booty Shuffle.

"Dreamy You" by the All Girl Summer Fun Band.

"dance with me, I heard another say
I guess this is just my lucky day
turned around to see just who it was
aaaah-aaaaaah, aaaah-aaaaaaah
dreamy you, dreamy dreamy!,
dreamy you, dreamy dreamy!"

Such a fun little song.

Lovely thread. Can we move it to the Music forum?

The eighth track off Rachid Taha's Made In Medina. Can't remember the title, and since I don't know Arabic I can't translate the lyrics. Kickass tune, though.

Funny - just seeing the title of this thread, and not suds' post, I realised I had a Princess Superstar song in my head, too... It's the one that starts "Hold your breath when you see me walking..." - ah, 'Trouble', that's it.

STOATIE LIEKS CHOCOLATE MILK
09:29 / 16.02.02
Jeff Buckley's "Morning Theft", which (despite the fact that I DO think it's a great song) is kind of bugging me, because for the last few days it was the music from "Bagpuss", and that's just so nice and reassuring to have in your head. (Actually, just typing this, "Bagpuss" has come back. God, I wish I'd posted to this thread yesterday.)

"Let love shiine
and we will fiind
a way to come together

We need a holidaay"

.......because I've been listening to The Avalanches and the second track on the album begins with a Madonna/Holiday sample.

"She's a jar
With a heavy lid
My pop quiz kid
A sleepy kisser
A pretty war
With feelings hid
You know she begs me
Not to miss her..."

But only because I was just talking about it in the Wilco thread, and musing on the lyrics once again.

(Oh the song is "She's a Jar" by Wilco)

Ice Cream Man by the Modern Lovers

I heard a busker singing it on my way back from the ..Trail of Dead gig 9 days ago and it hasn't left my head since - seriously.

Maybe I need to listen to more music that has tunes.

It was "Thanks For Nothing Part II: The Revenge", by Dillinger 4, but after reading Rizla's post, it's now "Ice Cream Man". Thanks!

(My hundredth post with this suit is about Jonothan Richman, this makes me quite happy.)

"I get a kick out of you" from Anything Goes, as sung by the inimitable (and I mean that in any way you want to take it) Patti Lupone. I have been spending too much time with certain people...

Let's live where the indoors and outdoors meet
All the kids in the commonwealth are free.
Every morning you forgive me, every evening you relive me
And the pattern itself is what you give me
(the morning has cut a deal with the east).

Like like the the the death
Air crickets air crickets air crickets air crickets air

I've had Rebel Rebel in my head for ages, and had never even heard the song properly...

Until NOW!

Rebel Rebel, you've torn your dress
Rebel Rebel, your face is a mess
Rebel Rebel, how could they know?
Hot tramp, I love you so!

Disco is My Class War
12:29 / 16.02.02
I am listening to a really very stupid little ditty I heard on an ad for South Austrlian tourism last night at the movies... it's sort of twangy guitars and a slightly bad-impression-of-Jeff-Buckley vocal:

'there's a thousand secrets
waiting here'

Anyhow, I am actually using the lyrics of the song in an article I've been writing about the nuclear and refugee situation in South Australia. Which is why it hasn't gone away. Grrrrrrrr.

Actually, it's on the CD player now, but it will stay with me I'm sure. Ben Harper's cover of "Strawberry Fields" from the I Am Sam soundtrack.
Harper's voice is like an aural orgasm.

Zoom.

Damn, I only wish I had wilco in my head... instead my mind has been assaulting me for the past month with they lyrics of Pink:

"I'm...coming up,
so you better get this party started
get this party started
get this party started!
I'm coming up,
so you better get this party started,
I'm coming up,
I'm coming."

Repeat ad infinitum. It's so bad that I was playing Nico last night for almost two hours and as soon I turned off the CD player, boom, fucking Pink popped right back in.

Sleater-Kinney's 'Memorize Your Lines' is stuck in my head right now, which is very frustrating because I broke my headphones on the way to work and so cannot listen to it here. And the 'Lyrics of Your Life' thread is broken! So I'll have to post some of it here:

quote:Wont you tell me what are we fighting for?
Do you want me here, do you know for sure?
You know the coldest face is the worst to me
And I won't calm down till I get to you

You know that I wish I could undo this role
Let's go back to what, what we came here for...

I've also got the next song on the album, 'A Quarter To Three' stuck in my head as well.
