Just writing to note that it's great to see this thread revived, and want to second TTS/Mordant's thoughts on the over emphasis on insertion-as-sex. Which causes problems on so many levels (people thinking that as long as they're not inserting they're not having sex and therefore magically protected from STIs &c., e.g., as well as the potential loss of creativity...)
And I like the distinction between strong interrogation of one's position vs. being hard on ourselves. That punishment dynamic really isn't what it should be about, I think. Neither should it be about rewards, however, patting ourselves on the back, as TTS implies. It *should* be about accuracy, honesty, ethics, holding ourselves accountable. |
