On reflection, KB played Catherine's daughter, Bloody Mary, in the film. Just correcting the historical record...

lol. one which I've only recently become aware of, from my teens (in fact, all my female ones I was gloriously unware of at the time!):

Neneh Cherry. Remember (blissfully unaware) saving up my pennies to buy the Raw Like Sushi video and watching it *lots*. And remember incredibly vividly, seeing her eight months pregnant, do 'Buffalo Stance' on Top of the Pops... huuuggge - but dressed in tight lycra dress, bomber jacket, huge trainers, medallions and 'attitood' *Sigh*

Seventeen milliion boys at my school, used to change three/four times a day! Massive crush on Richard Wilson - kid in my year rather than the grumpy actor. Katrina one of my best friends from school.

At various points:

River Phoenix (but only in My Private Idaho)
Craig Logan (of Bros)
Adam Ant
Boy George
Keifer Sutherland
Harriet Walter
Slash (ie of Guns and Roses. eek)

And sfd, now you say it, pretty sure Jill Gascoigne registered with me.

Ooh. Belinda Lang - early on, think in some period drama.

Stella Gonet and Lousie Lombard:

I was ruined for other men by the Troilus and Cressida of Sex. Probably about 1991, at the RSC, with Grant Thatcher as Diomede, Ciaran Hinds as Achilles and sexy young skinny Ralph Fiennes as Troilus. Ruined me for other men.

Otherwise...hmmm...ya got me. Wasn't there something in the Haus of Questions about this? Ummm....Toni Halliday, definitely. Sonya Aurora-Madan, Miki Berenyi. Katie Puckrick. Sophie Aldred, and doubtless hundreds more....ah, the things single-sex education does to your libido.

Toni Halliday - pretty sure I was busy being repressed about her... good choice, sir.

Oh god. Hadn't thought of the indie/music boys:

Evan Dando (yeah, g'wan. laugh)
Richey Edwards
David Bowie
Kurt Cobain.
Jarvis (although he's ongoing)

surprising choices, huh?

Justine Frischmann. for sure.

Amen to that, brother!

I also had a thing for the girl from the Edison Twins..

Toni Halliday! Yes! Especially on the poster I used to have where she was wearing a cowgirl hat. Forgotten all about that....

The Return Of Rothkoid
22:10 / 11.11.02
More. From flashbacks. Jennifer Ehle. Julia Sawalha. Even Helena Bonham-Carter at some points. Revealing a trend, I think I am. Though there was the requisite Drew Barrymore moment. (No, not in the whole Poison Ivy stage. Or the E.T., either, smart-arses in the back.)

Although I'm trying to figure out where (admittedly, a non-teen thing) Deborah Mailman and Sacha Horler fit into this. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Oooo Helena Bonham Carter is my biggest crush. She has those big eyes and the most beautiful face shape. Her laugh gives me shivers too.
For men though, it's a toss up between Antonio Banderas and Peter Steele. *drool*

03:54 / 12.11.02
Sarah Polley.

Also, when I was 15, I wanted to meet a girl that looked either like Death or Delerium from Sandman. (oh the shame!)

Oh I had such a thing about Uma Thurman and River Phoenix too and I remember being so pissed off when he died. I just thought life was so unfair!

Claire Danes, Harriet Wheeler (from The Sundays), Liv Tyler (circa-Stealing Beauty), Juliana Hatfield, Liz Phair...

And you're absolutely right about Rachel Griffiths, Paleface. I would've had a huge crush on her as a teenager if I'd been aware of her existence, I'm sure. I'll just have to content myself w/having a huge crush on her now.

Bernadette Peters..how could I have forgotten her...and Alanah Myles...and Dana Delaney from ChinaBeach...too many to count...head hurt..

Real or fictional?

Real:
Milla Jovovich (still do)
Rebecca Gayheart
several members of the "new" Mickey Mouse Club, pre-Britney & Christina
pretty much any mildly attractive girl who crossed my path

Fictional:
She-Hulk
Rachel Summers (Phoenix)
Kitty Pryde
Jessica Rabbit

Ah well, if we're talking fiction, then Sue Reed, the Invisible Woman from the Fantastic Four, was on my mind a lot....

I can't believe with all the talk of pop/rock/indie-band-crushes I'm the first person to mention Courtney Love. Was it just me? This was before the plastic surgery and designer outfits and shizzit, too, this was chain-smoking, fairy-wings-wearing, scary mad Courtney... I remember reading an interview with James Dean Bradfield back when he was cool, and he said that the first time he heard 'Doll Parts', even though he had no idea what she looked like, he knew he fancied her. I can relate. There's a question about this coming up in the interview...

Also, Winona the Evil Shoplifter for a very long time.

I was madly in love with the female baddie in Superman II - when she strode into the diner and arm-wrestled that red-neck I went ga-ga.

Olivia Newton John in "Xanadu" as well, and Jodie Foster in tomboy baby-dyke mode in "Freaky Friday". Come to think of it, anything with Jodie Foster in it...

Flyboy - I'm too damn old to have had a teenage thing for Courtney. I had the hots for Siouxsie Sioux, Poly Styrene and Gaye Advert and I've just remembered a real biggie - Lesley Woods from the Au Pairs. Nearly went to a gig of theirs when I was at school, but I chickened out because I knew I would've had to have come out as soon as the great woman got onstage.

Mmmm.... Jodie Foster is pretty sexy in "Freaky Friday." But so is Tuesday Weld who simply must be one of the most beautiful women of all time and I simply don't think Jodie looks as pretty while in Tuesday's orbit.

But hmm, definitely David Bowie in "Labryinth,"and later in the "Ziggy Stardust" days, Boy George during the peak Culture Club years, Christian Slater in "Heathers," Robert Plant and Jimmy Page circa 1970 (or as they appear in "The Song Remains the Same" movie), Bono (sorry!), the black guy who was briefly on "Head of the Class," Damon Wayans when he was on "In Living Color," Lenny Kravitz back when he had long dreadlocks, Matthew Broderick, Johnny "Fucking God he's beautiful!" Depp, and oh, I could go on...

Sudden resurfacing memory: when I was 14/15, Sherilyn Fenn was about as perfect a woman as I'd ever seen.

You beat me, sfd, before I could pipe back in w/a hastily remembered Poly Styrene. And every girl I've ever known who looked even moderately like her.

Twin Peaks... brings back many fond memories of Ms Fenn.

And Mike Patton, for my hormonally confused late teenage period.

Oh how I will show my age here...

I LOVED Molly Ringwald, and still go out of my way to see anything she does...including that shitty sit-com she did. Debby Harry was the perfect rock star to me as well.

As for girls in my school, I always had a thing for Chris McCombs and Jeanie Davis in high school. In fact, I remember when I graduated, I was pretty much told by people that they expected Jeanie and I to end up together...and I haven't talked to her since then.

Weird.

Ah Jennifer Connelly, Labyrinth seems to have had a big effect on a lot of people's adolescence, It's either her or Bowie as Goblin king, or both .
Once again with Sophie Aldred, what a woman. And how can I forget about Badger Girl that white streak in the hair was just oh so sexy.
At school, ah Zilla Scott what a strange, strange woman with big hair and wide eyes, haven't thought about her in years

Things that make you go EWWW, anyone?

Another vote for Ms Fenn; does she still live in celibacy?

Hm, George Michael, Faith-era.

And perfection was The KLF, they were so beautiful before they unmasked themselves.

Nah, for me it wasn't until she was in The Rocketeer and BUSTED OUT that my heart went pitter-pat. There's a reason why she played a character based on Betty Page.

I remember I thought Amanda Payes was sexy as fuck when she was on Max Headroom, and even years later when she was on The Flash. Haven't seen her in a damn thing since that second season episode of X-Files. Whenever I see how Matt Frewer has aged I think that's probably for the best.

There was one girl, a regular dancer on Club MTV, which eventually became The Grind, who was the archetypal hot redhead: flaming red hair, practically white skin, green eyes, and a killer bod. I would watch that when I was 15 just looking for her. I think my preference for redheads probably can be traced back to her. I might've even figured out her name from the credits, but I'll be fucked if I can remember it now.

Actually, the first time I can remember being sexually attracted to a woman would have been the blue cavelady from Quest for Fire. I think I was 5. Probably the next time would have been Princess Leia in the slave outfit when I was 7. That's an almost universal "siiigh..."

I have always had a thing for keifer sutherland, always and to this very day. I had a bigtime painful crush on someone who eventually became my best friend, and by the time I finally dated him I realized for the first time that sometimes things are better left as fantasy. and around that same time there was brigid, who was terribly evil and catty and my very own actual nemesis, but oh-soooo nice to look at.
