I like Adam Kubert. Well, he's okay.

I would absolutely hate to see Allred doing New X-Men. He's wonderful, of course, and his inks on Cooke's pencils in Catwoman are almost beyond belief. But....

Does anyone remember that Wolverine cover (X-Force, that is?) It was horrible.

Seth Fisher looks quite exciting. I also like Alex Maleev. And John Paul Leon.

Why are we having this silly hypothetical argument about Quitely on X-Statix? It's never going to happen. Frank has enough trouble drawing five NXM's in a year to do fill-in work.

I have a hardline anti-Andy/Adam Kubert stance - they are total fucking hacks, they fucking disgust me. That people seriously think they are great comics artists really depresses me.

Both Kubert brothers are capable of nothing more than pure, unadulterated pish. I’ve never been able to figure out why they were so popular when they are surely mediocre at best…

Anyways, this issue was pretty good, but it did all zip past in a bit of a blur, didn’t it? While I enjoyed the trashy, knowing silliness of it all (as I always do) I couldn’t help but feel that a couple of the more interesting moments of this issue were strangely neglected in terms of how much panel time they got…

I really love the resolution to the Miles/Phat storyline, because I genuinely didn’t see it coming. I’ll be very interested to see where Milligan goes with these guys after this issue, presuming they both survive the next issue…

Guy/Mr Sensitive creeps the hell out of me by ra way… there’s always been something so wonderfully loony about his motivations and he’s very good for the melodrama, I think.

As for the cover, well I think it’s all right. It’s nothing special, but nothing offensive either.

Frank Quitely is a brilliant artist, and I honestly think that people grossly exaggerate how ugly his characters are. Sure, they look a little odd sometimes, but on the whole I think that they look just right. And you just plain can’t fault his storytelling skills, cos they are just perfect as far as I’m concerned.

The Kuberts are capable at worst; not worth getting into a swear-encrusted tizzy about. I like Andy's art in Origin, and enjoyed Adam's work on Wolverine and the Joe Kelly-era X-Men, though not so much on Ultimate X. Some people do consider them 'hot' artists (I don't,) but that's their prerogative...

Fashions change; I find it hard to believe that everyone hates Rob Lifeld now, when they certainly didn't use to. Funny that. I also think we'll see a lot more Euro-style, a la Kordey, art in American comics in future, and we know how some folk feel about that...

Kordey's art on his last story arc was nothing short of excellent; his 'camera angle' choices, motion and chunky, solid art were perfect. He was a far better choice for New X-Men than Phil Jiminez, actually.

It's really too bad that the "Euro-style" we get on these comics is like Igor Kordey and not more like Milo Manara.

Aaah, but it's incredible how much Kaare's shitting on Mr. Kubert over in UXM (I mean, it's really gonna hurt to have Adam back, TBH).

I've never really found Frank's people that ugly, either.

Inverted commas are a great weapon in written debate. But, surely, you're not debating that Kordey's work is of a European style. 'Style' arguments notwithstanding, of course.

Kaare Andrews is much better than any Kubert, I agree. And Quitely draws Jean, for example, beautifully; there was one panel of 'The Authority', a first page splash, where Hawksmoor(e?)'s head did look mangled, though. But that's the only example that springs to mind, and he had been fighting.
