Jesus. And kung-fu. And vampires. And Mexican wrestlers.

Why have I wasted my life writing frickin' poetry all these years when I could have turned my craft to creating a premise as perfect as this?

One for all you Warriors fans. There's an article in this month's Dazed and Confused about a Warriors re-run bike ride where a load of peeps got dressed up, formed gangs and vsited all the locations.
Unfortunately they don't get to kick the shit out of each other but still sounds like fun.

i enjoy the film but I hate the way it's become one of those Holy Retro Icons of cool.

And for the person who mentioned Repo Man ... Repo Man is a good nay, great film. It's not bad or horrible, I mean ..c'mon!

Arcboi, I have to agree with your nomination of They Live - it's got everything: Morrison-esque subliminal billboards; the best fight-scene I've seen in years and genuine X-Ray specs...what's not great about it?
Oh and to add my 5 cents' worth, I'm still determined to dress up as a Baseball Fury once in my life.
Does that make me a bad person?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the film). Last night I had a very long argument with someone over whether its horribleness made it great. Needless to say the person who thought it was horrible was blind drunk because she didn't understand its greatness.

Yes yes yes and Oh my Fucking God yes. Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter is pure fucking art. Request it from every indy video store on earth. Please.

As for the real conversation, in terms of cringe-worthy laughable sci-fi- The Lobsterman From Mars is pretty up there. Imagine a large lobster claw attached to the camera and uselessly prodding into screaming girls. Nice.

And I love LOVE Hudson Hawk. I love the music numbers. I love Sandra Bernhard. I love the CIA agents named after candy bars. I love Andie Mcdowell squealling like a dolphin. And I love that it's all the story of one man's quest to have a cup of coffee. In fact, I take people to task for anyone claiming it IS a bad movie.

Nessus- Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare! How could I have forgotten such splendidness? Jon-Mikl Thor at his best (course, the UK video release was called "The Edge of Hell".)

"You don't scare me, Bub. Or should I be less familiar and call you... Beelzebub?"

Zombie Nightmare was another great Thor movie- the similarity in titles leads me to believe he may have been planning a trilogy of sorts... wonder what depths of cool cackery the third would have hit?

I've just finished watching Cannibal Holocaust ("banned in the UK since 1982").

I'm not sure how to describe it. Goddess it's awful. No, awful is not strong enough to describe this film. The basic story rather pre-dates Blair Witch - four American documentary makers go off into the South American jungle to film cannibals, don't return and some anthropologist bloke follows their trail and finds their bodies and their footage.

The footage shows the film makers being complete bastards, raping, terrorising the tribe to get film and, naturally, they end up killed and eaten. All with a dreadful and strangely soppy soundtrack. At the end, the tv company who sponsered the rescue mission decide to burn the film and the anthropologist bloke sticks his pipe in his mouth and muses "I wonder who the real cannibals are" before walking off through Manhattan. Oh, and there's lots and lots of naked women and rape scenes.

Why was this banned for so long? It's utter shite. Although apparently the bloke who leant the video to my sister was really scared by it and thought it was a snuff movie.

The whole sequence where the bad guys drive down the street listening to creepy synthesizer music and waste the little girl with the ice-cream just to prove their badness has to be one of the greatest bits of cinema ever..

The Strobe

Yeah. That's the thing. I don't think ANYTHING in Precinct 13 is "bad". It all fits so well, and the ice-cream-girl murder is one of the most shocking bits of cinema (mainly due to the perfect editing) I've ever seen. And the whole silenced-guns thing goes from being a budgetary restriction and becomes a really effective device.

And that theme... (and the Bomb the Bass remix...)
