Let me know if this comes off as another "bitching about the herd mentality" post.
I've recently been wondering about the parallels between the social hierarchy's of grade school and adulthood. The kids used to pick on me because I had that "odd demeanor" thing, much like the adults pick on the employee with a similar sha-bang. (or the homeless guy on the street) There are people at the bottom, there are people in the middle, and there are people at the top. There are large groups of humans that form single organisms called "cliques" in both public schools and adulthood. These cliques are often oppressive toward the solo individual who appears to differ from the typical human. Does a social hierarchy and its features change/progress/mature as its participants get older, or does it remain dancing with its basic principles? |
