Never mind. Like Sideshow Bob said, you can't keep the Democrats out of power for ever, and when they get in again, it'll be back to the streets for Winona and her criminal buddies...

But... but she can't go to prison! She's willowy! There are no willowy people in jail!
And this will put pre-production on Heathers 2 even further forward. What is it about that film and criminal tendencies?

Update:
"Los Angeles prosecutors said they would not press for a sentence that would include time in jail.

"We will not be asking for jail time," Los Angeles County prosecutor Ann Rundle told reporters outside the courthouse. "We have never asked for jail time in this case. We simply ask Miss Ryder to accept responsibility."

Phew! That was close!

Is that because she's been 'punished enough', by any chance?

Yeah. I'm sure she's learnt her lesson.

I think her Maj has learnt HER lesson and will never come through for anyone ever again... hee hee.

Okay, I know most, if not all, of her other films were crap, but... but... she was in Heathers.

She can't go to prison (I'll get all upset like I did with Beth Jordache... whaddya mean she was fictional? Shit.)

Regrettable Juvenilia

Maybe they could impose some kinda probation/community service thing whereby she's never allowed to make rubbish films again, only Dogme films, films about zombies taking over high schools, and films made by the Coen brothers/Wes Anderson/the guy who made Donnie Darko.

Loomis

Or, she could go to prison and be followed by cameras all day, Ozzie-stylee. Ratings bonanza!

And by the way, I defy any 17 year old to watch Reality Bites and not want to be/shag Ethan and Winona. Defined a generation it did. *Sniff*

I'd rather be shagged by Ben Stiller.

ONLY NICE THINGS
15:27 / 07.11.02
Christ, likewise. Janeane Garofalo and Ben Stiller were the best things about that film. Winona's character was whiny, self-obsessed and profoundly dim, and Hawke's was just a *twart*.

Yup. Defined my generation.

I'll take Janeane, you can keep Winona, okay?

Winona is craaazy. You can see it in her cute pixie eyes. She's a mess, and she's made every celebrity she's attached herself to a mess. God, look at poor Beck. I place some of the blame for the drivel on Sea Change on her...

Poor mad Winona why can't everyone just let her thieve the world away in peace.

My ever-expanding arse it did. I distinctly remember you adopting this as a raison d'etre, but in the parlance of our times, it shat me to tears.

"My daddy gave me a BMW! What do I do?"

Shoplift, obviously.

Christ. I provided Monday mornings of existential torment and failure, and you choose Ethan? You cruel, cruel bastard.

I think Reality Bites tried to define our lovely grungy early 90s as much as 'Singles' did:

"Hey! We're all 30 year-old professionals! BUT we're in Seatlle, so our lives somehow are cool and appeal to 18 year-olds! Right? Right?"

(okay, fine, I liked them both at the time...)

I still remember the following two years of '[insert word] bites' being used as a phrase by commercials and newspapers as often as 'this year's Pulp Fiction!'

Latest teenage male theory is that she did it to try and get prison time so that she could prepare for a career in Prison Movies.

Done. I (probably about 17 when I saw it) absolutely despised all the characters in that movie; "Shut up you boring rich self-obsessed square fucks! Where's my copy of 'Dazed & Confused'?"

Loomis
11:30 / 08.11.02
Well of course I'd rather have Janeane now.

Funny how it's so easy for all of us insightful well-adjusted, profoundly un- "whiny, self-obsessed and profoundly dim" peeps to pour scorn on that portrait now that we're older, but when I was in first year of university, just about everyone I know, myself included, could have been cast in that movie. All those cringe-worthy middle class dilemmas and elfin girls and slacker boys were what filled the early nineties at my university.

'course I'm perfect now, me.

And Rothkoid, it was a very close race between you and Ethan. I'd choose you now of course.

i stand corrected.
whoever said that "reality bites" was a good film hasn't got my vote. dude, ethan hawke was so mean & nasty in that film and the director gave all the screen time to winona's psychic hotline bs! i wanted to know just went on in janeane's head with her seventies music and string of boyfriends and life at the gap! much more exciting.
oh and by the way, i saw the trailer for "mr deeds" and thought it looked rub. and adam sandler is my future ex!

winona is a lucky lady. she has dated dave grohl, beck, jack white, jonny depp, pete yorn, jimmy fallon, christian slater & matt damon. and her real hair colour is blonde.

HA HA HA i'm in an internet cafe and whoever was here before me forgot to sign out of msn msger and someone is saying: 'mi nina!!! hooola!' at me, hee hee

Reported today:

Heathers star Winona Ryder fled sobbing from a department store after an assistant cruelly taunted her. The convicted shoplifter visited the Los Angeles branch of Macy's and ran up a total of $3,500 at the checkout. But, she didn't have her purse with her and a less than charitable check out clerk didn't show her any sympathy. According to Scottish tabloid The Daily Record the assistant said, "Don't tell me your rehearsing for another movie role, right?" Winona was found guilty of grand theft of personal property and vandalism in a Beverly Hills court last week.

It must kill you when you're supposedly a movie star and tabloid stories begin by associating you with a movie you were in about 15 years ago..

Would you prefer if they identified her as "Mr. Deeds star Winona Ryder"?
