How is this information gonna be collated? Me was thinking, if you had a big enough picture of the world, you could have it as an imagemap in HTML, and whenever you moved over a major city (with a lither in it) it would popup the list of people there.

or something... possibly less strenuous....

A.G., good idea. I have no clue as to how to go about that sort of thing myself. Anyone in here with the knowhow?

I can still make huge color prints though.

i'm collecting it each and every day. i got some pretty big map of the world done on Illustrator, so it's pretty simple to zoom and zoom again on it, untill it's big enough for putting each one face !

well, in fact i was thinking to make a link on everybody profile on barbelith, plus their website or blog URL... now, all ideas could help to try to do something cool enough, yep.
and for those who would like to get some print of it, we got our Remorse ready out there...

when do you think we will stop the thread and its informations comin ? cause there will be still some people giving locations, and if we can update the web version of the map, prints got to be done one time or so, or it will soon become a pretty good mess, what do you think ?

Well... if "june" doesn't know how to do it, I'd be happy to help.

really sorry, but I'm not quite sure what you mean? You could have a date at which a print is going to be done, and keep adding info up until then... that way by viewing the progress of the online version, you'll be able to tell how messy its gonna get... or is that what you meant?

I gotta stop smoking so much... :|

this map/sigil/pretty picture, will it denote the # of 'lithers at a location by colour or brightness? what program will be used to create it?

Apparently. Though, I would hope not for awfully long.

exactly, Alex. this is what i mean (heck, i've got a new english lesson tonight, thanks god).
so, if we gotta let people come over, PLUS i got a few indy work i gotta finish, on which i gotta be quick if i want it to be done at the right time, so let's say...

OCTOBER 15.
LAST DAY TO SEND l/L INFOS FOR BEING PART OF THE TERRIFIC, AMAZING, ASTONISHING AND USELESS LITH MAP.

untill this, i'll work on the map itself, and doing the html/java stuff about opening each member profile (the already existing one on barbelith ? tell me what do you think) when clicking their name on the web version of the map.
and trying to find a cool format to be printed, thanks to Remorse.
now, Alex (and others), if you get some ideas, let's bring them all together. more people = more ideas = moer quality & more fun.

I love anything map related but I've been hanging back from contributing to this because I wanted to wait until I'd moved, but I'll still be here:

Lat (WGS84) N51:33:45 ( 51.562595 )
Long (WGS84) W0:03:37 ( -0.060245 )

in mid-October.

Be really interesting to see what the result of this is.

I don't feel the Barbelith profile is very telling but I am interested in subverting the false anonymity of this type of forum.

If you were to stick pins in a map I think you might end up with a big hole where London used to be, no great loss to my mind.

I forget where I saw it, but there *is* an online guestbook where people can put their locations up and enter some info... maybe that's worth a look - and easier than Illustrator...

Kookymojo used to have one, but it's gone since her redesign...

It's Landon innit.
And I fear Feature is right. Praps the map should be distorted, with scale in proportion to population. 'Barbelith's Projection' no less, to rival Mercator's and Peter's.
