And neither of us managed to correctly punctuate "Young Ones' book".

Great. Now everyone thinks we're right-wing and misuse apostrophes. This is the end.

If you google "benefit scroungers" and "live in luxury" you get quite a lot of hits though.

Silly Barbelith. There are no people on the dole.

In all seriousness, aside from marriage or prison: be a student, play the stock market (provided you do well with this), somehow save enough from your job to start investing in real estate, become a rockstar or a famous artist. Most of those involve years of study or practice first, or a lucky break.

You could also find something you do well that pays a lot that you can contract for and only work a few months out of the year. You could start a small business that lets you do stuff you like doing and make money at the same time, so while it's not exactly like not working, it's better than doing something awful or corporate.

And by mentioning it you have made it impossible to edit. DAMN YOU.

Having said which, I think you can get away with it as a descriptive noun usage. Like a Nancy Drew book or an Olsen Twins film.

I once spent a summer in a salmon cannery in Alaska. You work 2 months a year, make $10,000, and can spend the other 10 months relaxing on a beach and dreading the next summer...

(It was hell, and personally, I didn't think it was worth it, but some people were long-termers there who lived this life...)
