I've had lots of low points since moving to London 3 years ago, and have often wondered whether I did the right thing, whether I should scurry back to Liverpool because, basically, better the devil you know and all that...but whenever I get homesick or whatever, I remember all the reasons why I was so desperate to get away in the first place...and I can honestly say that I've never regretted moving. I miss my family and friends up there, but they are always on the other end of the phone if I get really down, and it makes the brief visits home all the more enjoyable when I do hook up with them. You know you only have a short amount of time with them, so you tend not to waste it. Physically you feel isolated, but you know that people care about you, so in that sense you're not really alone... |
