I wish I hadn't used the phrase "He was way ahead of his time." in a recent conversation about Wilhelm Reich. I was told that the phrase was incomprehensible jargon. Which, seemed like an outrageous comment to me. I replied by pointing out that that phrase is not jargon. It may be a colloquialism, but it is not jargon. It is not technical language specific to a group, or obscure language or hybrid language, or slang,...etc.

So, am I wrong here? Can the phrase above be considered jargon? Or am I dealing with some petty moron?

That´s a well known phrase. I looked it up and my dictionary says it´s "ahead of the times", so maybe that person didin´t like your variation?

Apparently, this guy took my use of a colloquial expression to mean I was claiming scientific fact and then disputed me based on that assumption.

things i wish i stopped saying:

'fuck me running' what the hell does that even mean?

'what a pity, look at my titty' cause everytime i say it the two pple who were there at the time it was created aren't...and every1 just looks at my boobs confused.

'cunt sniffer' now....i'm a lady, and this is just completely unacceptable to be coming out of my mouth. even if it's at stupid drivers who deserve it.
